Premier Inn Torquay Hotel

We stayed at the Premier Inn Torquay for a week in early August. Although the location was good and the bedroom was pleasant I was appalled by the breakfast service. We paid for continental breakfast which i wouldnt exactly say was value for money but with a one year old with us we had no opition but to eat there as other places in Torquay didnt open until 10am. Most days the buffet had nothing on, bread, bowls, cups , orange juice or croissants and when I finally got fed up I spoke to the Duty manager who I must say offered no apology and seemed to think I was being unreasonable. In fact I would go as far as to say he was very rude and lacked any kind of Customer Service Skills. My advice would be if you do stay there go adn eat elsewhere if you have option.

We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday evening after attending a family wedding.
The reception staff were very helpful and checked us in to a room made up for three.
On opening the door to the room - which was on a lower ground level it smelt slightly damp. As we looked out of our window which had a net curtain someone was peering in whilst sitting on the curb fastening their shoe laces. I immediately returned to reception to complain as my daughter was slightly disturbed about having her bed placed so close to the footpath situated directly outside our window
Reception staff immediately explained they had checked if there was any other room available, but the hotel was fully booked and we would have to ask them next morning to check to see if we could be moved .
Later that evening we opened up all the UHT milk cartons to find they were all sour and seperated. We returned these to the reception staff who said, were on earth have they come from we havn't used cartons for quite some time.
When we decided to get into bed that evening are beds or bedding had a damp feeling to them.
Next morning the reception staff did tell us we could be moved and to pack all our bags up and they would move them for us.
I did also get a refund for the first nights stay as they explained they have a good nights sleep policy of a refund if your not happy, which we were not. Subsequently the rest of the holiday was much better and the room we were moved to was much better too. The room was clean, tidy and well kept, exactly what you would expect from Premier Inns, which we have stayed in all over the UK.
I would recommend this hotel as everything else including the breakfast was lovely but the first nights experience, did put a dampener on the start of our break - sorry for the pun.

I stayed here on a business trip at the beginning of June 2009. It was a fantastic location - close to the train station, right opposite the water and within walking distance to the main town centre. It is a little further away from the town centre than other places but an easy walk along the water. It was a typical Premier Inn with good service, nice clean rooms and value for money. The breakfast was great and the food in the restaurant was superb. They have a huge outdoor beer garden which would be lovely on a nice day. Overall it was a very good experience and I would stay here again for business or pleasure.

Arrived mid-week and parked in spacious car-park to the side of the hotel. Obtained a voucher at reception for free parking. We arrived at 1.50pm and the room was not yet ready so we went to the bar for a drink. The very helpful young lady from reception was kind enough to bring round our key-card about 20 mins later. We were extremely lucky to get one of the best views from our room (No231) -right out over the bay looking towards the marina (see attached photos). Despite being above the large beer garden and with a busy road-junction beyond we had no problems with noise. The whole hotel has been recently refurbished to the usual Premier Inn standard although some original features remain. The only lift in the hotel was rather slow and our young son often beat us to the second floor by taking the stairs and negotiating the 'rabbit-warren' corridors. This was no real issue though.
The room we had was larger than expected and had a bath and shower in the large bathroom. There was also plenty of room for our son's bed which was perpendicular to our large, comfortable double.
TV had Freeview channels and wifi was available.
We had breakfast and dinner a couple of times in the adjacent Beefeater. Breakfast was all you can eat continental for about a fiver plus cooked if wanted for a few pounds more. Dinner was the usual Beefeater fare and staff were pleasant and efficient.
Indeed, all staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful.
It is about a 5 minute walk to the marina and a further 5 mins to harbour/town centre. We would recommend the Pier Point restaurant at the marina. I had booked a table for 7pm but was surprised to find we were the only folk having a meal! Rather odd for the middle of July but I think the poor weather contributed.
I would also recommend the Bay Brasserie-again a 5 min walk across the park to the Riviera Centre-the building itself is a bit of a 70's concrete block and the way in is round the back but don't let that put you off. Once there, the service was excellent and choice of food a bit above the ordinary.Note though only open for dinner Fri/Sat so best to book in advance.
We stayed for 8 days and as the weather was hit and miss remained in the hotel for longer periods than normal. However, this was enjoyable due to the quality of rooms/ bar facilities. As stated by other reviewers, this must be one of the best located Premier Inns around.

Excellent VFM, great location on the beachfront, near the Railway Station, good breakfasts, spacious and quiet room - usual Premier Inn standard. Internet connection from the rooms are a bit expensive

My partner and I have just returned from a one night stay at the premier inn, We had already booked a room at the travel lodge as we were down there for a funeral. We went to the travel lodge after travelling for 4 hours to find the staff very rude and none helpfull so we decided to have a drive around. We came across this hotel and was amazed at the location for a premier inn right on the sea front with amazing views. My partner and i needed to get in the room earlier than usall because of the time of the funeral and the staff bent over backwards, they got on to chamber maid who got are room made straight away . So we cancelled are room at the travelodge and wont be touching them with a barge pole again. The staff the bar the resturant are all fantastic. The rooms are spotless and very comfy.

Ask for a room away from the main road because it is noisy at night and there were drunks hanging around outside the hotel until the early hours - other than that the Premier Inn was as expected........clean, good sized room, nice staff, all you can eat breakfast was excellent, large free parking, a stroll into the centre was mostly flat - gardens near to the hotel. Would stay again but would ask for a quieter room.
