Hospitality excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was very good with a choice for breakfast and the evening meal. Location close to the shops and harbour. - nice steady walk down and the taxi back only costs £4.

Frognel Hall is a wonderful building, full of character and in a convenient but secluded location. The hotel owners and staff were welcoming without being intrusive and always went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. The food was good quality and well-cooked and, although the interior is gradually being updated, it did not in any way detract from what was a lovely family holiday - we were very sorry to leave!

We cannot thank Stephen and Amanda enough for the fantastic experience we all had at our daughter's wedding reception. They are the most welcoming of hosts, and their members of staff have clearly been recruited with care. Nothing was too much trouble and we were able to relax completely in the safe hands of this very special team. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything went smoothly without any hitches - thanks to their 'behind the scenes' management. At the Frognel, the day begins with a very good breakfast; vegetarians are well catered for too with a good veggie cooked breakfast (perfect poached egg). For a summer wedding, we totally recommend having a BBQ (top marks to the brilliant and very nice chef!), and with the guitarist gently playing in the garden, it created the perfect atmosphere for our celebrations. If you are looking for gold taps, marble floors and stuffy management, the Frognel is certainly not for you. But if you want a day which you will remember for all the right reasons, if you want to be well looked after in comfortable clean rooms, if you want to enjoy the most important day in your daughter’s life in gentle, elegant, surroundings, then you won’t be disappointed in this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: 'October' has lovely views of the sea

My mother and I chose to come to Frognel Hall when a Murder Mystery evening was being held. We found the accomodation very comfortable and clean and the evening meal and breakfasts were excellent value with much of the produce locally sourced. The setting was lovely with beautiful views and grounds. Idyllic.
Stephen and Amanda were really lovely hosts and could not have been more accommodating. They were always available and willing to provide anything we needed. The Murder mystery was excellently presented and extremely entertaining, the actors made you really feel involved and stayed to chat and have a drink afterwards. The weekend was relaxing, fun and very memorable. For a celebratory weekend I would definitely recommend the Murder Mystery weekend but for any visit to Torquay I would also recommend you try "Frognel Hall Hotel". We will be revisiting.

Travelled with a group of "Ramblers"; all friends not forgetting the well behaved dog. Our main aims were walking and value for money; we achieved both very successfully.
Stephen and Amanda could not have been more helpful or friendly and this was reflected in the staff. Frognel Hall had the feel of a period hotel but so friendly and comfortable it was like staying with good friends. The food was interesting and delicious with good choices and vegetarians were well catered for. Everywhere was clean and well maintained, the rooms were comfortable though a few were a little small or had baths but no shower.
Being in a group we ate together and used the lounge and bar, all this was managed with ease and friendliness. As the weather was good we played croquet on the lawn and Stephen organised a quiz for us on the last night.
Our group used ferries, local buses and our cars to access the wonderful, though exhausting, walks in the area and were fortified with an excellent packed lunch from the hotel. The scenery is amazing, the nearby towns and villages delightful, and of course the lovely the ice creams. Torquay is lively with lots to see and do as well as the walking.
Thank you Stephen and Amanda for an excellent holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet.

Whilst working away from home I chose Frognel Hall Hotel on the strength of it's reviews and I was not disappointed. Perched on the hill above Torbay the views overlooking the bay, from the well maintained gardens, are wonderful.
Quiet relaxing evenings can be spent in the bar with the ever friendly owners Stephen and Amanda, who are welcoming and quick to advise on local attractions, or in the lounge with its log fire.
The rooms are clean and well presented and the restaurant menu varied and tasty.
I shall return!

When we arrived we were welcomed by the owner and his wife and quickly shown to our room. The room was a good size and very comfortable. In fact I saw some of the other rooms, of friends we had travelled with and they were all good. During our weekend stay the owners, Stephen and Amanda and all their staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good. We had entertainment on the Friday and Saturday evening which myself and my wife really enjoyed.

Altogether a very good standard of service and food.
