I stayed at this hotel as part of an organised trip in January 2014.
Upon arrival, one thing we were immediately aware of was how big the hotel was, with a reasonable sized car park. This also made it a bit of a maze inside - a few signs up could be useful - but we learnt our way from the restaurant to our room fairy quickly. As other guests have reported, there are only stairs if you come in via the car park to get to reception, and the main lift by reception is quite old and a little slow.
The decor in our room was quite dated, but the beds were very comfortable. We were on the road side of the hotel, which was a little noisy as it seemed the window latch didn't quite close the window properly. It seemed to be single glazing as well - an upgrade to double with proper working windows would be a benefit. There was a kettle and tea/coffee in our room and a TV (which we didn't use). A safe would have been good as well but not essential.
We dined in the restaurant every night as part of the package. Service is quick but they do seem very rushed and weren't particularly attentive or friendly. Drinks are a bit of a pain to order as they have separate wine waiters/waitresses so it's a bit of a luck of the draw if you happen to catch one as they go past. Whether this is standard service in the restaurant, I don't know.
The location is good - about a 10 minute walk down a gentle sloping hill to see the sea.
Reception was very friendly - when we arrived at the hotel, we found we didn't have any towels in our room, but after we reported this they were brought up fairly soon after and wasn't an inconvenience.
Overall, the hotel was comfortable but is in need of some serious modernisation. Some efforts have been made to do this - heated towel rail in bathroom, key cards instead of keys, comfortable (new) beds - but the rooms need a good fresh lick of paint, windows checked over for repairs/updates to double glazing, and new carpets. I'd stay here again though.
