Really good value for money, food excellent although waiting staff could have been a little bit quicker. Good facilities and evening entertainment very good. Lovely layout of hotels and not far to walk into the centre of Torquay.

Could'ent fault anything, about this great hotel, staff very attentive, nothing was to much trouble. The swimming pool, and gym facility were someof the best we have had at any hotel. The food was delicious, the staff in the resteraunt were great. The entertainment was excellent the hotel team were very proffessional the shows they put on were first class, we were on an all inclusive drinks package, the short's were branded makes, all in all an a very good time was had by all.

We stay in the Derwent two to three times a year. It is an excellent location and the complex is really good. There is lots to do and everyone is really friendly.
The rooms we have stayed in have always been well presented and clean.
The food is lovely and well presented, and there is a good choice also for the children.
The entertainment is excellent and there is a choice of venues, as you can use all three hotels.
The inside and outside pools are clean and well maintained.
I would recommend to all ages, as the hotels have something for everyone.

A proposed vist to friends was cancelled at the last minute, so our daughter and her two boys (5 & 3) were disappointed. So we decided to book a couple of nights at the Derwent so that the boys could have their "little holiday".

This was our third visit to the Derwent, as it has all the facilities to keep the boys amused no matter what the weather - as it turned out it was warm and sunny for our stay. We don't expect a lot as it is a 2* hotel and is very reasonably priced.

Our rooms (one twin and one family) were very small, as were the ensuite bathrooms, but clean and quite acceptable for a short stay. The menu in the restaurant was varied and quite good, though for our taste the food was rather bland. What we did find disconcerting was the fact that the staff cleared away the buffet display the moment the clock reached the scheduled end of the meal service, irrespective of the fact that guests were still eating their meals. Tough luck on anybody who comes down to eat at the last minute. During the school holiday/half-term period they have a child-minding service in a play area on the lower ground floor, which allows you to feed the children, take them down to be looked after so that you can eat your meal in peace. If you are quick. Dinner is served between 6.30 and 7.45, so you are hard pushed to deal with two meals in such a short space of time (remember what I just said above).

All in all an excellent hotel complex for a family holiday, and extremely good value for money. There are four inter-connected hotels on the complex, so if you want a higher standard of accommodation at this resort try the Toorak or Carlton.

I did enjoy my stay. Rooms although basic, very pleasant clean and tidy and comfortable, although not too sure about the sink unit being in the bedroom (not much privacy there!). A couple of the meals were not too good, but on the whole the rest was enjoyable, and the service was very good and the staff helpful and polite! \would stay at the Derwent again, as it offered a wide range of facilities! Great location, near harbour and shops, pubs and resturants.

Thank you for your review. I have noted your comments. We have a programme of sink removal from the remaining rooms that still have a vanity unit within the bedroom and not within the adjoining bathroom. This will continue over the coming years during our refurbishment programme that runs continually over the resort, in all four hotels. I am pleased that the service from our teams was good, and apologise for any shortfall in our food offering on a few of your nights stay. Kindest regards

We have stayed at the TLH many times and spent a few days during half term at the Derwent with extended family. As always, we loved all the facilities and the staff are always polite and efficent. A pleasant surprise was that the dining room had been refurbished and the standard of the food had improved considerably since our last stay. Family members who we had taken to the hotel for their first visit were very impressed. Our waiter, Karol was also brilliant, much better than some we have had in the past. He was very friendly and efficent.

Parts of the hotel do need refurbishing. From the rear car park, the view of the hotel is terrible, all flaking paint. Also the fences round the tennis courts and children's playground were broken and there were cement mixers. I think this may have had something to do with the fact that the outdoor pool had been refurbished and they needed access though. The bedrooms are fairly basic, but very clean but the corridors upstairs need sprucing up as the walls are grubby.

The hotel is very good value for money and our children love the swimming pools, entertainment and games arena. They are always sorry to come home and that is why, despite a few grumbles, we keep going back!
