well where do i start, apon arrival to step full of smokers which wasnt good with a 10month baby, on check in to reception I enquired about dinner and because i wasnt staying on a dbb basis i was told i would have to pay £15 for a table i thought this cant be right, the reception was a shambles the staff where abrubt and very unhelpfull, parking as a nightmare aswell.
The hotel itself was a tip stains all over the carpets wallpaper hanging off the windows throughout looked like they would fall out if you touched them and it was dirty and the room is worse.
dont get me wrong a nice size room but the sink in the middle of it didnt look good the tv was tiny and only had 5 channels FREE VIEW IS FREE, again carpent skinking smelt of damp stains over wall and ceiling the cot they provided was awfull set my own up in the end.
I stayed in room 203 and you try getting a push chair to the lift from that room its impossible had to collipse it down to got up step and through a door.
Breakfast was ok not a bad choice staff where rude could not speak much english at all.
The lesure facilities are superb i will give credit for this aspect of the hotel good choice of pool areas sun loungers could be replaced many where cracked.
Food wise we went to pier point both nice fantastic food dont get me wrong its not michilin star food but amazing value for money the the choc brownie with orange chocalate mmmm stunning goats cheese salad was stunning too, All in all i would go back to torquay tomorrow but find another hotel. This hotel could be someting special

Have stayed in the Derwent and Victoria hotels over the last two yrs approximately 10 times. We love the friendliness of all staff and how they have time for everyone, from the hotel reception to the restaurant staff, including the entertainment team, bar staff, porters and maid services. It would be unfair not to include everyone.
The pools and the facilities that are there are a welcome attraction for a parent, everything is here. The Aztec bar is wonderful for anytime of the day or pop into the Albert. Their are peaceful areas of the hotels too where you can relax and read a book or just chill. The pools are fantastic and all areas are clean and tidy.
We love this resort it's amazing it cannot be beaten!!

It is not surprising that this hotel is 2 star. It has 4 star facilities and 0 star rooms.

The rooms are worth around £30 per night so if you pay anything more you have been ripped off!

Positives: Ok staff, ok reception area, beautiful indoor pool and lovely restaurant with nice breakfast albeit being removed before end of service so sometimes chasing to get a juice.

Negatives: First impression of crowds of people smoking on outside steps. Room smelled of damp and shabby carpets but as clean as u could with what u had. Wallpaper hanging off on stairs and carpets stuck together with black tape. Ladies toilets under maintenance so u had to go down dark unlit corridors and entertainment-one great girl singer carrying a load of young men whose egos make them think they're talented. Too many children running around out of control and couldn't get near the outdoor pool as guests put on towels and then don't use sunbeds for hours.

I have stayed at the Derwent Hotel on several occasions, always vwith good memories.
On this last visit I was a little surprised to find that we had a different waiter/waitress every night of our stay and this led to a feeling of ' I wont be here tomorrow so never mind ' The same could not be said of the morning waitress who was very attentive to our every need.
Otherwise our stay was most enjoyable and just as we have come to expect from TLH

We had a very pleasant stay at the Derwent Hotel, very freindly staff, and very helpful. The rooms are basic but very clean, dont need any more than that after all you only sleep in there. The food was second to none,, and once again service was very good, The entertainment package is also very good, we thought the TLH team worked very hard on their routines
All in all we can say, that our stay was wonderful, and we will be certainly be paying
another visit, 2 start hotel, with 4 star service,WELL DONE TO ALL AT THE DERWENT HOTEL,we hope to see you all soon with kindest regards
