“The most beautiful and serene resort in the UK and Europe!”

My friend and I had the privilege of staying at the Cary Arms in July 2013. We had actually not booked accommodations for this last leg of our trip; we would book when we got to Torquay area. I had lived in the area as a child so I was showing my friend the "English Riviera". We stopped in Babbacombe Beach and noticed the Cary Arms. We inquired and they had one room left; one of the end cottages. It was beautiful inside and the wrap around windows gave our a 180 degree view of the English Channel. The décor was lovely in crisp hues of blues, whites and sandy colours. The patio for dining was beautiful adorned by beautiful flowers and beautiful sunset views. The food was fabulous and the staff friend and with excellent service!! There is a spa at the hotel but unfortunately our travel time did not allow for an indulgence (this time!). It is definitely on our list to visit again; this time for a week.

Room Tip: We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage room at the end of the building (not part of the main building but...

Stayed for a weekend in January - loved being so close to the sea and even managed to get out for a long walk along the coast path. The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom gorgeous. we felt truly spoilt and enjoyed the wonderful food. Can't wait to come again - thank you

Stayed two nights on a package that included an evening meal at The Elephant in Torquay. Lovely room with views to die for and all the staff we very welcoming, nothing seemingly too much trouble. Food at hotel was excellent and the Elephant lived up to its reputation for fine dining. We stayed in the Vice Admiral room and if there was any criticism it would be it was a little to warm and would have preferred to have a shower, but these are minor on what was a most enjoyable visit.

Lovely room and great service. Everyone made me and my pooch Martie very welcome indeed even though the kitchen was closed for maintenance for a few days I was still treated to a great breakfast! It's such a great spot, so peaceful and stunning views. There is a great team spirit and everyone was so helpful, a great stay thank you.

We stayed a night at the Cary Arms last weekend & it's great to finally find a high quality hotel close to Torquay! We stayed in the Captain's Room which was perfect for a family & the view was amazing. The room was incredibly spacious, bathroom was immaculately clean & the bed was extremely comfy. Also the hotel Manager was excellent - took the time to ask & remember our son's name, chatted to us & nothing was too much trouble for her.

Food was good but not outstanding & therefore a bit over-priced. Had to wait a while to be offered drinks after being seated. Poached eggs were bit overcooked & one side of my toast was burnt which was a bit lazy not to rectify. Also the room was very cold. The radiators had thermostats but heating didn't come on at all. Hot water bottles as part of the turn down service were a lovely touch & helped counteract the cold. All minor points which could be easily rectified & we will definitely be returning again when we next visit relatives in Torquay.

We were booked for a four day long weekend 3-7 January, weather was terrible but we were made to feel so welcome, everyone was friendly so it did not matter. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely Residents Lounge which we used a lot looking out over the bay while the rain, storms, high tides swept past our view. Never have we had such a good weekend away with such bad weather. The rooms are great and it was very dog friendly although we did not bring ours.

Room Tip: Talk to the staff if you have any particular requirements - they are so helpful
