“Superb location, friendly wonderfully helpful staff”

We stayed for three nights and found the comfort and restfulness of this hotel to be first class. The food is described as "gourmet pub" and it certainly goes beyond that. The many fish options are superb. If you want a break from the hurly burly life this is the hotel to stay at. It is a dog friendly hotel so be prepared to enjoy the company of dog loving folks.

Room Tip: A must is a balcony.

Wonderful Daughter's wedding at the Cary Arms. The location is superb, although you do need to be prepared for the steep road down to the cove. We took all the rooms, for the immediate family including two young children and three dogs. Weather food and atmosphere were all perfect, and we were delighted with the attention, service and food. Nothing was too much trouble and I would recommend heartily the hotel for a holiday or a special occasion.

Fabulous location, beautiful views and genuinely friendly staff. The hotel was lovely, our room was very comfortable with a modern bathroom [a must have]. The view across the bay whilst having your morning coffee made you wonder why you ever left the UK to travel abroad but it helped as we had glorious weather !
A separate area on the terrace for residents to sit was a nice touch which just gave you some privacy especially to relax after a 'doing' day.
The only small complaint would be the slow service especially at dinner but the friendliness of the staff more than made up for it, they really could not do enough for you which was lovely.

Room Tip: We had Petty Officer which did not have a balcony but larger room with a fabulous view. We would mos...

Totally looked after and spoilt by the staff on a glorious sunny say - we felt totally detached from the rest of the world and somewhere in the Mediterranean! Just magical.
Food was a little disappointing. Breakfast left under the grill so dry bacon etc and my moules dish the evening before was not at all authentic and swimming in cream with little imagination.

Stayed here quite a while ago but have only just started using TripAdvisor.
The location is fantastic (well worth the scary drive down the hill!) Food was amazing, service was equally as good.

One of my favourite places I have ever stayed.

A bit tricky to get to but we'll worth it . The Cary Arms does not open to non residence until 12 o,clock and the day we visited they were having their staff meeting but when we finally sat down at a table with a lovely view over the bay the staff were very attentive . We ordered from the lunch menu, I must say the best crab sandwich I have had in a long time and very good value . The house wine is a little pricey but it is such a lovely setting I can't wait to go back and spend the night .

Having been to the Cary Arms a few times when it was a pub, I was fascinated to know what had become of it since its conversion to boutique B&B. The drive down is very steep but the hotel car park is just above the steepest bit, which means a bit of a climb to get to the car. The greeting on arrival was friendly and efficient. The room (Fleet Admiral) was stupendous - spacious, excellent bathroom with separate bath and shower, but the crowning glory was the huge balcony with dual aspect views over Babbacombe bay and Teignmouth to one side and open sea to the other.
We were lucky enough to have perfect weather and were able to have breakfast on the terrace with great views on both mornings of our stay.
However, the location and accommodation would mean nothing if the staff were not as friendly and helpful as they were. In particular, the manager, Felicia, went out of her way to make us feel welcome - even offering to fetch my car when we left.
I can whole-heartedly commend the Cary Arms and will certainly stay there again whenever I come to Torquay.

Room Tip: Fleet Admiral is the staff's favourite and mine.
