“Lovely hotel in stunning location :-)”

Hello, I stayed at the Oddicombe Hall Hotel in September 2013 and I would defiantly stay there again. The rooms were clean and spacious withy beautiful view over the bay. The hotel is in a wonderful location with access to shops, public transport and the local theatre. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea view but the hotel has downstairs rooms with disabled access and wet room facilit...

Stayed here again in August 2013 and it's much improved by John the owner. Amazing views for a budget B & B and its location is great. Right on the Babbacombe Downs, almost opposite the Babbacombe Cliff funicular railway down to Oddicombe Beach. Crisp white sheets, great English breakfast and a lovely location all for a budget price. Had a bit of a facelift since last year so well worth it.

After my wife had cleaned the bathroom and room windows it was just about habitable. Not only is the hotel very tired but so is the management. The cobwebs on the lights and in the corners are so old they probably have preservation orders on them! Plenty of exposed wires around for the budding electrician to practice on. The TV set top Aerial only worked if you held it up to the top of the window ( bit difficult for me as I am a full time wheelchair user). However, the breakfast was very good.
I would suggest you find somewhere else to stay. We have photographs to substantiate these comments.

I stayed at Oddicombe Hall in May with my family of 16, and wrote a fairly good review. But because we had had a lovely family time I wrote through rose coloured glasses. The reason the staff moved beds around for us was because one of the rooms I had booked was let to social services clients, and John would not change them to another room, so we were a room short.
Because of the area, sea views etc, have just stayed there again, and unbelievably the same thing happened, only this time not so easily solved. I went with my daughter , granddaughter, and 20yr old disabled grandson, who is a wheelchair user. there is only one room that Jake is able to use, with two of us helping him.
Weeks before I had booked two ajoining outside rooms, and John agreed, over the phone on the one I had requested for Jakes use, with us next to him. When we arrived we were told that one of us could sleep in with Jake and two upstairs in the hotel. Highly impractical because Jake needs to use the bathroom in the night, and that takes two! Now the reason for this was again because our so called ' booked' room was being used by a lovely lady, who was a social services client. John said, she took priority over us because she was there for 7 weeks, and we were only there for 2 nights. needless to say I was not amused. he tried to find us alterative accomodation, but with Jakes level of disability it was not possible. The worst thing was Johns attitude towards us, very rude, lacking in any empathy. We had to drag an apology from him. Just when we were thinking we were going to have to drive home again, John approached us to say he was putting a bed in his sitting room for the lady, so we had our rooms in the end. It was a pity, we tried not to let it spoil our break away. But the discontent I felt made me notice other pitfalls, eg. pillows badly stained, mine had blood on, mattress stained, garden chairs rusty, and garden looking very sad & unloved, some thing a handyman could do for a few pounds a week. Despite picking the best bathroom for Jake he still fell even with us helping him because the handrails near the toilet are not adequate.

Yes, the seaviews are amazing BUT if you want a clean modern hotel this is not for you !!!! The friendly staff mentioned on previous reviews were absent on our visit !!!!! The shower broke and was apparently fixed and we were reassured once the water had re heated all would be well but it wasn't.

Yes, the breakfast was good - my elderly mothers accommodation did have wheelchair access and a walk in shower but it was dated and in need of some TLC.

The gardens could be lovely if only someone took care and time to tidy up.

Room Tip: Try elsewhere !!!!!

You could pay many times more than we did for the stunnng view - £60 a night for a sea view room - so can't complian at all about that. Nice breakfast and pleasant staff too. Hotel was rather basic though and there was a worrying lack of fire instructions/exits in our room. Also only a couple of small opening windows so this room is likely to get very hot in summer (if we ever have a summer!).

Stayed here with my partner for two days. The hotel is in a lovely tranquil location on Babbacombe Downs with sea views out over to Exmouth and Brixham. Excellent value for money at £25.00 each as every room has a view of the sea. Something you won't find in many hotels inTorquay! Good breakfast and friendly staff. Don't expect luxury but shabby chic in the main hotel rooms. Book it!
