We have been to this hotel on numerous occasions, always value for money and entertainment is brilliant especially Steve Laister, Andy Oakley and the female vocalists first class. My only complaint would be the food , compared to our visit 2 years ago when meals were excellant the quality of meals now are disappointing. Our coach driver Paul is very entertaining and made the trip very enjoyable.

Great to have you back Lyn. Very upset to hear food was not up to expected standard. We had a temporary stand-om chef who it appears, from you report, was not up to standard. We are back to normal staff now and the food should be as good as ever. Really sorry that it may have not been right during your stay. Please remember to let us know at the time and we will act immediately to resolve any issues.

We had a great seaview room costing £20 pounds each extra well worth it, 3 course dinners and a good breakfast was good , the entertainment was brilliant and coach tours to Dartmouth, Totnes and Brixham were great it did help that we had lovely weather, hotel staff were friendly clean towels every day no problem at all, would go again.

Room Tip: We had room number 39 which was sea view with double bed plus one single bed.

Our journey from Liverpool to the Templestowe hotel Torquay took 10 hours. The coach was old wit no facilities what so ever. Our second driver Paul was cheerful and apologetic but this journey was arduous and tiring. The hotel is clean with lovely waiting on staff and cleaners food ok.The free drinks were unpleasant so we ended up paying for better quality which meant the holiday was not as good value as we expected entertainment a bit dated , best thing was the lovely people we met. over all i'd rate it 4out of 10.

Hi Betty. Sorry to hear the journey took so long. It is usually about 8 hours. The distance is around 300miles. The coach averages around 50mph; that's 6 hours travel, plus 2 hours for comfort and lunch stops. Unfortunately, the motorways had a number of major incidents that delayed the coach. There was nothing we could do to speed up the journey.
Not sure why you were unhappy with the drinks. The beers are all branded, wine is standard. Spirits are not main brands -- and this may have been an issue -- we haven't had any complaints in the hotel, but we will certainly look to see if improvements are needed.

'Entertained' all the way to Torquay with 'amazing' snippets of information and music CD's compiled by Paul, our coach driver!
The Templestowe Hotel is located a 10 minute walk to the town, and 20-30 minutes back up a hill, which could be challenging for some! It's an old building, maybe a little 'tired', but clean and comfortable, and did for our needs.
Food was good and the waiting/kitchen staff, pleasant and obliging, catering for our choices. The 'free bar' stocked mainline beer, lager, cider and, as to be expected, house spirits. The system of exchanging empty glasses to be replaced on a 'one to one' basis with fresh drinks could be tweaked a bit, but was no problem for us. Bar staff were amiable and efficient.
The entertainment was staged in the bar/lounge area, which meant that there was a bit of a 'scramble' to get seating to view the nightly shows. It might have been better to utilise the larger ballroom.
A pleasant enough duo, 'Just for the Record', performed 60's and 70's middle of the road music. The other artist that Friday night was a Steve Laister. He invited a group of females celebrating a 60th Birthday on stage, and then sang a song urging them to bare their breasts! Ok for some social clubs maybe, but the birthday party were visibly upset and didn't appreciate it.
On Saturday night the duo again performed together with a singer, Wayne Martin, another average act.
Sunday night was unquestionably more professional, with Andy Oakley, Ruby Washington and 'Will' on keyboard. Ruby and Andy had strong voices, and the latter had a good comedy routine. The three young dancers accompanying the artists worked hard too. The shows on each night were preceded by bingo!
Our party of 4 male 'sixty-somethings' were expecting more tribute-like 'rock 'n roll' entertainment and that took the edge off the weekend. Maybe in future, it could be advertised purely as a '50's,'60's, & 70's Weekend' leaving out the 'rock 'n roll' reference!
Having said all that, overall, we enjoyed our time at the Templeton, and it was good value, for what it was.

Room Tip: Lift provided to all floors so shouldn't present mobility issues.

Thank you for the extensive review. All your recommendations are being taken on board.
Steve apologises if anyone was offended and certainly wasn't trying to get anyone to 'flash'. He will certainly take care in his choice of songs for the future.

Glad to hear you found the holiday good value. We really appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon.
