Just been on a daishes 5 day break to torquay, we stayed at the devonshire hotel. aprt from it being situated at the top of a hill not far from the sea front. it was good. food was good but could have eaten a little more, rooms clean and comfortable . there was a bus from the hotel to the sea front for people who couldent manage the hill. we had entertainment every night , over all it was a good trip and good value. we would certainly go again.

Room good size, bed comfortable, nice bathroom, although water takes a long time to get hot.
Food and choice very good.
Entertainment (except one night) was fantastic.
Staff exceptionally helpful.
Only complaints really was ladies toilet ONLY 1 downstairs. Although was being updated to 2 still not alot for capacity of guests. And tiny lift, was quite scary using it!
Overall for price, was very good value for money, and i would return.

i have returned today from a 4 night break at the Devonshire Hotel Torquay this hotel is very tired and in need of total refurbishment, i understand that a small section of rooms have been updated but ours was not ,it was very tired run down and dated the beds were not comfortable mine sank in the middle and creaked everytime you moved. The beds had old fashioned woollen blankets and sheets not duvets, although the hotel was mainly warm on our last night the heating seemed to have been turned down even thought it had snowed that day. the meals were nice but very small portions , and the staff were not very approachable except for Simon who was very good at his job as head of entertainment which was very good but not much happening in the day.For what we paid i rate this hotel as average but if i were a disabled person or travelling with one i would not recommend this hotel as it has very limited facilities the only toilet for public use was having work done so only one was in use for all the hotel. This was the ladies toilets downstairs i dont know what the mens toilets were like so cannot comment on them.

Room Tip: our room overlooked car park where coaches were parked so was not ideal i cannot comment on other ro...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review.
It is a shame I cannot identify this guest from their trip advisor review, that way I could look into the issues in more depth. I will point out however that the management and staff will always go out of their way to help deal with any problems they may have during their holiday and taking to us can often help resolve these issues. We have refurbished 12 rooms in the past year and are working hard to get 12 more done this year. It would not be possible to totally refurbish the whole hotel in one go, we are a business with budgets to stick to ensure the business's success, but we keep making vast improvements as we go through the year including updated games room and new public toilets coming online very soon.
It is very unusual for any guest to say the food portions are very small, any guest who would like extra within reason may always ask. I do not agree with your statement on the disabled facilities. We are in the process of upgrading the public toilets including a new disabled toilet with wide opening door grab rails and proper disabled toilet which all guests can use but will help need the needs of a disabled person greatly. This will be open within a week, we also have rooms which are more for disabled guests with optional high raised seats and pull down handles including low level walking in showers which do get requested often.
My request to this lady is to call me at the hotel and let’s discuss your issue so we can try to understand why your holiday did not meet your personal expectations compared to all other guests on that tour.

Nigel and the team at the Devonshire.

Fifty walkers of a certain age from Notts descended on the Devonshire in February. We know what to expect now from Daish's and the value for money cannot be denied. Dinner, bed and breakfast, space to dance, cus that's what some of them love to do, bingo! and a good laugh, as well as transport to and from. The walking and scenery, as well as the good company, are what we go for, and that's just great.

Our initial fears about 'getting what we paid for' were quickly dispelled. Friendly staff, Clean bright room with en suite shower, Good dining room service and good basic food. Entertainment was varied and generally good. Coach pick up and drop off were on time by same friendly driver.

'Dear guest and thank you for this lovely review, getting what you paid for' and more is what we pride Daishs Holiday on, for us it is more what we can give and not what we can take which will make a great holiday for our guests, please come back again soon.
