I stayed at this hotel with my Grandad on the 26th May for 5 days. This is the 2nd time I have visited this hotel. It was great. We stayed in room 38 it was a nice fresh room with lots of light. The food was outstanding as always. We really enjoyed our stay. We give this holiday 5 stars because of the room, comfort and food during our stay.

I would like to thank Rita for serving our food, she did a great job!
Our holiday was that great, I am coming again later this month.

Dear Guest, thank you for writing your great review, we are so lucky to have had you both stay with us in May, room 38 hold the crown for the most expensive wallpaper in any room in the hotel, at a cost of £45 per roll it offers a tad of luxury at a price we all can afford.

thank you again

see you soon

Our 4th visit this year so that must speak volumes. One of our group had their birthday there and was made so welcome by all of the great staff. Homely hotel with good home cooked food. Situated at the top of a steep hill overlooking the town but regular buses run up and down the hill all day except Sundays. Not 5 star luxury but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Free WiFi in reception area.

Thank you to Nigel and all staff for another great holiday with Daish’s at the Devonshire Hotel, to celebrate my parent’s 70th Wedding Anniversary. I suggested here for mobility purposes, as the circular bus leaves from, in the hotel grounds, which meant there was hardly any walking. The bus stops opposite Debenhams on the harbour and is very handy to access all areas of Torquay. This was a great bonus. The food was great and promptly served by Rita & Ella. The rooms were comfortable. Great bar service from Ian. I like the fact that your table where your meals are served is your table for the evening entertainment, which as usual for Daish’s was excellent. Simon as usual did a fantastic job on comparing, Ray & Edna is returning to see you again Simon!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 17, with twin beds. A large & very quiet room with a walk in shower.

This was our second stay at the Devonshire hotel and spent 4 days from the 18th to 22nd May 2014. We were allocated room 27 which was fine and suited our needs - bathroom was of a good size, and the room was cleaned by Christina who gave me clean towels each day.

The meals we enjoyed and the entertainment varied but both very good

On a previous visit we had a table for 2, however this time we shared with a couple from Leeds and we got on extremely well and had a few laughs during the quiz rounds. Our thanks To Tina who could not do enough for us and was very helpful during the busy dinner service.
PS, thanks for the Haddock.

I would like to finally thanks Nigel, (Simon, you may think no one loves you - but you were very entertaining) and all the staff in the Devonshire - as both my husband and I had another wonderful time away, and I did not have to cook or clean for 4 days - heaven.

I recommend going to Brixham by boat and walk around the small fishing town, it is only £2.00 there and back. Also the wheel £5.00 for 2 mins to see Torquay from a different angle. Finally Torre Abbey is a must, £7.50 for all day around the house and gardens - fantastic day when the sun is out. Will be back again Nigel, many thanks once again.

Room Tip: Room 27 had stairs both ends of the corridor - OK for fitter people - through traffic can be a bit noise at times.

We booked to stay at the Devonshire only for our room to be double booked, so we got transferred to a different hotel but was allowed to go back to that hotel to eat as that is what we had paid for!! Turned up for food at 7 only to be told we had to be seated and eaten by 6:30 pm! The service and food quality was disgraceful. Also was told it's for families, I'm sorry but it is not! It is only suitable to the older generation as that is what all the entertainment is based around due to the cliental. So happy we did not have to stay there! Would not recommend this hotel to family's or young couples!!!
