Excellent staff. A wondeful hotel . We had a wonderful view. Prime Location.

Room Tip: Arrived at 5;00pm asked for a sea view, we were upgraded for £30 instead of the usual £50

Hotel in lovely position, but needs facelift and more training for staff.Rooms becomming a little shabby and also many areas of the hotel need attention to detail. Breakfasts were good-except they kept running out of many items, tables were never cleared after breakfast-not once during our stay. Only had one evening meal on our fiirst night, didnt eat there again during our four nights!!! A lot of the staff were very helpful, but there was quite a few language issues! This is a good hotel, but could be made excellent with a few changes, and more staff training- if we go to torquay again, would still stay there again, because of the position of the hotel, and only on b/b. The Hole in the Wall Restaurant is excellent-Cockington Village is Fab,Steam train and boat ride beautiful, the beach at babbacombe is lovely- we had a fab four days. Enjoy if you go. Room 71 had sea view and sun all afternoon, but very noisy from big fans.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view, but not 67,69,71 very noisy at night because of fans, could not keep patio door opn.

I had a sea view king room. The room was big with a comfortable bed, balcony and stunning view over the bay. The room is well equipped, but about due for a refit. The dining room also has a great views, and I had breakfast and dinner there. Dinner was well done. The emphasis is on quality rather than quantity, which is fine by me.
I swam in the pool. The indoor pool was just big enough for laps, but too warm.
Staff were good and very helpful. The email marketing is eager and frequent rather than helpful. The wifi is free, but you have to get a voucher each day. The information packet in the room is not quite complete but the reception will help if you have the patience to let them.

I had stayed at the Imperial in Torquay a few years ago and was apprehensive that it would fail to live up to my my first experience that which I had considered to be amazing. I needn't have worried - this SURPASSED my previous stay!

Check in at the hotel was easy and relaxed and staff were friendly and efficient and myself and family were made to feel very welcome. We arrived in our room and were stunned at the view which was breathtaking and framed beautifully by the huge windows. Our room was also considerably larer than any other hotel that I have every stayed in and was extremely well appointed.

The public areas did not disappoint either; the bar, lobby and pools were a good blend of period and modern features which effortlessly married together. We also dined in the restaraunt on both evenings and very close attention was paid to our every need with amazing service and incredibly tasty food.

The overall experience has left me feeling rested and excited about a return in the future.

Booked 2 night break , huge room , clean and not at all shabby as some reviews had indicated . Didnt get a sea view but not a problem as much nicer sat out on the terrace which had superb views over the bay.

One of the best hotel breakfasts Ive had !! Excellent !! good service too.

Think they should scrap parking cahrges a bit excessive should be included in room price...

Drinks a tad expensive but typical hotel prices I suppose. Great Location just a quick walk down the hill and in the town.

Would definatly return and recommend !!

I am a big fan of the Imperial, and have seen multiple changes in management over the years, all for the worse from the old THF days. The staff and views from the rooms are fantastic, but the hotel and it's facilities are now becoming very tired and tatty. The hotel is clean, but badly needs refurbishment. I have long since given up on the food and bars which I find to be poor quality and expensive, especially as there are now so many great restaurants in town.

The relentless cost cutting is really showing. The towels and linen are threadbare and thin, not in keeping with the stated standard, and they have taken away the robes, and the bedroom fridges. Even the shortcakes with the tea are miniscule.

The pool staff very poor, with no pool service and the bar shut when I was there. Minimal al poor quality soap etc.

While we were there, there were many weddings, and it was a bit embarrassing to have all the festivities going on while lying by the pool. It seems that they are trying to sell the same facility twice over.

I want this hotel to do well, but the new management will have to work hard, and the owners spend some money to stop what has been a 2 decade decline.

Room Tip: Only go to high sea facing room, otherwise go to the travelodge
