“Excellent stay - looking forward to going back again!”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

Booked this hotel as a surprise weekend break for my husband's birthday, and our wedding anniversary. Booked a deluxe sea view room, to ensure good views of the bay, and upon arrival, was delighted to be told we'd been complimentarily upgraded to a suite. The suite was fabulous! Bedroom enormous, and separate living room area. Massive balcony, big enough to hold a cocktail party if you wished! Televisions in both rooms. View of the bay was superb! Waking up each morning to see those views is so nice, can't wait to go there again. Staff were extremely polite and friendly, and nothing was too much to ask. Would recommend booking to go over to Darmouth on the ferry. We booked 2 tickets to ferry across, and after a couple of hours in Dartmouth, you get the Steam Train back over to Paington, then short bus journey back to resort of Torquay. This cost just £15.00 each. Great value for money and an excellent day out. If you're dining out, the No.7 Fish Bistro down the road is an absolute must, as well as the Old Vienna Restaurant.

Had our wedding here Sunday 23rd September. It was fantastic, apart from the weather!! The venue, setting, everything was absolutely first class. It all ran like clockwork. I, (the bride!!) was put at ease straight away. The staff were wonderful and attentive and yet discreet. Food was excellent. The suite was luxurious with a bathroom you could hold a party in. Could not find one thing wrong. Well done all!

Stayed here from 24/9/12 for 3 nights. Room we had was fantastic but we did upgrade to a deluxe room and it did not disappoint. Fantastic views over the bay and weather permitting sunlounges available to sit on balcony for soaking up the sun. Large comfortable bed. Food in restaurant was very nice and if you booked a table from reception a three course meal would set you back £22.00. Breakfast was usual standard for four star but the restaurant enjoyed wonderful views and all tables set up to get the best advantage of this. Only downside we found was what they had done to the public areas/lounges which had been filled with modern leather chairs but it seemed to make it feel like a a doctors waiting room or a banqueting room that had recently been vacated.

Room Tip: Upgrade to get good views

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night with our 4 month old daughter to break up our journey from Derbyshire to The Lizard, Cornwall and were both thoroughly impressed.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Torquay's beautiful marina and town centre and parking (chargeable) is easy with a choice of either indoor or outdoor spaces.

Reception staff were extremely friendly and welcoming - service was efficient and we were directed to our room in no time at all. Plenty of information available in the reception area on events and attractions around and about the Torbay area.

Our room faced to the rear of the property (so no sea views but we were there to enjoy Torquay not sit gazing out of the window!) and was impeccably clean. A large and well lit bathroom and double doors leading from a hallway into a huge bedroom. Extremely comfortable bed - we both had a great night's sleep. The 11am check out time meant that we had plenty of time to enjoy breakfast down on the marina and a wander around town before our onward trip.

Already looking at staying again for a pre Christmas break - thank you to all at The Imperial!

stayed at this hotel for only two nights.good location, room and breakfast, but the bathroom not so good. the shower didn,t work on the first morning and wasn,t very functional after someone had fixed it. also a slight smell of waste when coming back to the room.overall i believe this hotel is in need of updating.not four stars worth.

Just got back from two nights at the hotel. On arrival parking a bit difficult and pricey but 'Wow'! Lovely staff superb room and pool facilities, didn't eat in the restaurant as a bit pricey and limited menu but overall 100% recommend, would suggest they replace the restaurant chairs as they are a bit tatty.

My Wife and I have just returned from a four night stay at the Imperial Torquay. Having been regular guests at Barcelo, it was indeed a pleasure to stay with the new Puma Hotels group. The service and food overall was excellent altogether a very enjoyable break. We will of course now continue to use all the Hotels in the group for our short breaks.

Room Tip: We are wekend break members and although there is a small cost, it's well worth it for the benef...
