“Great Facilities and Luxurious Accommodation”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Impressive aesthetic which rivals, if not beats, most 5 star Hotels we have visited. Lovely spa facilities, although changing rooms slightly on the small side. A fabulous children's play area with many activities to keep them busy for hours! Our room was wonderful, very spacious with a lovely view overlooking Torquay harbour. Beds very comfortable and general cleanliness was of a high standard. It is listed as having wifi but we found that if you stay on the Garden level you can't access the wifi which was rather irritating, the staff are friendly but we did find that their general knowledge of the Hotel was sub-standard - a couple couldn't direct us around the Hotel and the bar staff couldn't answer our questions about the menu. Overall a great stay and will definitely be returning in the future. BEWARE of parking charges, they charge £7 a night which in our opinion is massively inflated and unnecessary. Many Hotels we stay don't charge anything and most we have ever paid previously was £4 a night!!!

Room Tip: If you have kids level M is probably the best as is on the same level as the children's activity...

the only good thing to say about this hotel is it has a stunning view over the bay , the food was ok , the staff were very poor , unhelpfull , did not seem to know what they were doing , far more training is needed , we had some disagreement with the hotel over a locked fire door at night , as i could not get out to the garden with my dog , the manger said they are allowed to do this , some thing iv never heard off ,a locked fire door ,only locked at nights , had to ask the night porter how to get out as there were no signs telling you how to open the door , would we stay again , No way ,

We visited the hotel with our family and a group of friends. Using the facilities and restaurant only. Initially myself and 3 of my girlfriends had used the spa with a groupon offer. Unfortunately the pool was not in use. We were very disappointed but the hotel staff handled the situation professionally and offered us a return visit with our families. It really is refreshing to have received a friendly and understanding response to our needs as parents. allowing us to come back and use the pool with our children and partners on a date that was suitable for us.

The swimming pool was a lovely temperature, facilities are well looked after and clean too.

The restaurant staff were efficient and provided us with a really lovely lunch for our party of 16. Great views and surroundings.

It is always worth paying upgrade to deluxe room for the magical views. Really enjoyed this our third stay at this hotel. Restaurant food good, bar food which we had on our second evening was excellent and also the afternoon tea which was in our deal was very good.It was unfourtunate that we were not told on booking that the indoor pool was shut for redecoration during our stay but fortunately and unusually we had chosen not to swim this timeand only found out we could not have done anyway on our last day!Staff all friendly and helpful though the restaurant can be a bit stiff and formal in the evening.

I recently stayed at the hotel for three nights with my elderly mother. I asked for rooms not too far from a lift and with bright, sunny balconies. The rooms were perfect, very clean, a good sized single bed, next door to each other and the balcony captured the afternoon sun. Staff are all very friendly and helpful and are used to dealing with elderly visitors, they are very patient indeed. Good varied menu with a light and airy dining room. You have to book a time for dinner each evening and although you may request a window table, in order to appreciate the stunning view of Torbay, it isn't always possible. However due to the huge expanse of glass in the restaurant, there are always good views. The hotel is situated half way up a hill with parking on site, £7 for outside, £15 underground per day. Plenty of interesting places to visit in the vicinity. I would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the first floor or above to ensure you get plenty of afternoon sunshine on the balcon...

First stay here & stayed for 3 nights in a single bedroom.. Hallway, Room was superb, spotless, nice decor, large single bed, large flat screen TV, tea & coffee, plenty of drawers, large wardrobe.. Ensuite with bath & stand in bath shower, plenty of towels & complimentry toiletries.. Bright opening windows to balcony with a sun lounger & spectacular views over the bay of Torbay. Staff: faultless!!! Very friendly & helpful.. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice & smoked salmon for brekkie was lush plus a help yourself full English & served in the restaurant area again with views of the sea.. The rest of the hotel, spotless & beautifully decorated was like going back in time.. Has to be seen to be believed.. Bar was nice, I wouldn't say the drinks were that overpriced but hotels are always more expensive so to be expected plus a nice bar menu.. Try it, the is excellent. Didn't eat in the restaurant but will try that next time.. Plenty of facilities, gym, swimming pool, spa, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room.. Changing rooms could do with a bit of a facelift but then you're only in there for 10 minutes so didn't worry me.. Snooker table, pool tables, air hockey, table tennis, childrens play room... Outside, lovely gardens which are well maintained, childrens playground, outside swimming pool (season dependent), mini golf.. Plenty of balconys & seating areas to eat or drink. Plenty of parking but is charged at £7 a day which I imagine is because they are close to town, didn't worry me.. As I said this is my first say as I usually stay at the Palace.. The Imperial runs rings around the Palace & I really can't wait to go back.. I'm trying to find a niggle & the only one I can find is not enough coffee in the bedroom!! LOL Hey can't be perfect ;-) Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay & see you soon!!
