“One night Spa break (Saturday-Sunday)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

To get the 'negatives' over with, there was a bit of a mess up with rooms initially, and the bar menu is quite limited. Bar staff were somewhat stressed, and every soft drink I asked for (from the menu), they didn't have. Bedroom en suite shower water flow quite weak. Pool was over run with very loud children at one point which was a shame and we had to leave (though this was our own choice).
On the positive: we were able to book in early; service excellent throughout the stay; dinner was superb; though a little 'tired' in places, general decor is beautiful; amazing Spa staff who couldn't have done more to make us comfortable and aid relaxation (clean robes, new slippers, unlimited tea and coffee in relaxation room); nothing was too much to ask; rooms comfortable, clean and equipped, with very good beds; breakfast amazing with everything you could ask for and more, and endless supply of tea!
A member of our party was on crutches, but was able to access all area's of the hotel and spa, and the Spa therapists were exceptionally professional with all 5 of us.
Extra supplies for tea and coffee in our rooms were freely given. With a view to die for, friendly, professional staff, quality restaurant food, and outstanding Spa therapists, we will all definitely be promoting The Imperial and visiting again ourselves.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better if there is a function, and definitely request a sea view (with an accessib...

Had a lovely stay at this hotel.

We paid the extra for an upgrade and were given a garden room (No 16). Room was excellent, spacious and very comfortable.
We had a few issues,
1. The water pressure in the bathroom was extremely low making a shower almost impossible. 2. The noise from the room up above was very loud (I have to say not the other guests fault) Every move that was made, including them turning over in bed was heard by us, and yes I mean EVERY noise.
The hotel itself is lovely and well presented.
Breakfast was lovely with a good choice of food.
I would recommend this hotel as it is pleasant and located in a central position.

Room Tip: If you want a good nights sleep do not choose the garden rooms

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Imperial Hotel. Our room overlooked Tore Bay and it was absolutely beautiful. Although the hotel is a bit dated as others have indicated in their reviews you overlook this because of the great service and hospitality of the staff. Short walk to the shops so the location was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that visits Torquay.

arrived a bit early for our check in,but were allowed to our room, which was an upgrade, which was a nice surprise for the money we paid.Large spacious room with a wonderful view across the bay. No moans about this hotel, thinking of going at Christmas when the program is available. One moan perhaps. The bar seemed very small for the size of the hotel which could be a problem in their busy period.

Nice room and a fantastic view overlooking Tore Bay but the food served in the Bar was extremely disappointing. The ' Barnsley Lamb Chop' was inedible and the remaining plate of food was not as described on the menu.We complained and had this changed for a sandwich as we were tired and hungry and didn't want to wait long. This arrived promptly but the top slice of bread was stale and the beef was processed! We found this hard to believe considering the price!
The following evening we ate in the restaurant which was much better.

A nice hotel if a little dated. Room 49 was spacious and the sea view was very nice although slightly obscured by 3 large trees. Beware that this room is right next door to a function room; although there was no function the night we stayed! The food in the restaurant was excellent and again the view outstanding; ask for a window table!

Nice setting and good value, the hotel is a bit tired and with a bit of investment could be a great 4 star hotel again. the only gripes I had was that the bar was closed at 12;30am when we returned from dinner and weren't made that welcome when we requested drinks. we were served by were the only guest in the bar, I guess all the shutters being down would put you off, and the second was a huge queue at reception on check out. apart from this I would probably stay here again.
