Room Tip: the extra for a sea view and sunrise is weell worth it 3rd and 4th floor

We had a 2 night break early November this is a hotel we enjoy in an excellant postion on the front. The food is really good and the staff are all very friendly. We also used the pool for a pre breakfast swim. The devon countryside is on your doorstep and we had a good time touring around. We will return soon.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for a sea facing room for the view and they are generally larger.

My partner and our dog stayed for 3 Nights from 8/11/11 (no charge for dogs). As usuall, a warm welcome from the moment you walk through the door. Reception, and bar staff so attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic and rooms were very very clean. All in all you can not get better!

Oh and if there was an award for the best member of staff, Suey (Sue) the 'mature' bar/front of house staff would win heads down! She made us laugh on more than 1 occasion!!!

Room Tip: Worth paying for a Sea View

I visit Torquay 3 or 4 times per year and always stay at the Grand. All the staff are wonderful - in every aspect - make a request and it is done immediately and always with a big smile. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food is a treat, from the fantastic choice offered at breakfast to the fabulous 3 course dinners in the evening. I love my stays at the Grand - I always come away feeling completely relaxed and happy.

Room Tip: I usually have a single sea view room on the 4th floor and have never had any bother with noise even...

Another exceptional weekend at the Grand, despite the slightly tired bedrooms, the service provided by the efficient and delightful staff make up for the minor disappointments decor-wise.Food better than ever in the restaurant, altogether supreme value for money.

My wife and I took advantage of the Autumn weekend break at The Grand and were impressed from the start with complimentary afternoon tea in the Compass Lounge and a complimentary bottle of New Zealand Shiraz in the room. The staff were charming and very attentive without being intrusive. The food was outstanding with dinner offering a range of delicious dishes to tantalise the taste buds and the portions were just right. The breakfast was very impressive with buffet style enabling you to select not only your chosen items but the quantity. The bite size pastries were very tempting and an indulgence not to miss. Service at the table was efficient, friendly and prompt. Our room was very well equipped and generously sized. The bar prices were also reasonable with a pint of local Bay Bitter under £3. The Grand is a lovely old hotel (1881) with Victorian charm that has been tastefully and lavishly refurbished to provide a luxurious, comfortable accommodation.

Spacious guest rooms and splendid reception and communal areas.
Far and away the best hotel in the area .
The views of Torbay from lounge bar and dining room are 'stunning', in modern parlance!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are good but rear view rooms are equally spacious and less expensive.
