We have just returned from the Toorak after celebrating a freinds birthday, with lots of family and friends attending nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff, they helped me so much. Thank you. Food as always, excellent, always a good choice and never have to wait long. Staff in the resturant were very good. Rooms clean, tidy and a ncie big bed. Facilities just brilliant, always something to do inside and out, 5 minute walk to the front - perfect. We shall be back.

We have just come back from our Easter holiday trip to Torquay. We have stayed in the Toorak Hotel. We believe that the hotel caters for families and older people more than for couples so we are not sure if we would go back there again. In overall:

1. The location is very good - close walk to the seafront, shops and restaurants;
2. The rooms are very dated although very clean. It would be great if the hotel decided to refurbished the rooms in the near future.
3. The food (breakfast) was poor quality. We believe that more local, better quality produce should be served. There are so many farm shops in Devon where better sausages, bread, bacon, local cheese and even jam could be purchased from. We understand that the hotel caters for large numbers of guests but we feel like the breakfast was for us a major let-down. We have also tried a soup once for lunch. It was very salty and tasted like tin soup. We decided not to eat lunch and dinner in the hotel and we eat out.
4. Facilities - swimming pool (we have not used Aztec Spa) - was a big plus and the reason why we chose the Toorak Hotel. Great size of pool and not overcrowded.
5. Service and staff - very good and friendly.
6. Parking - sometimes a bit difficult but if you parked over the road at the Conference/Leisure Centre, the hotel would reimburse you which was very good.

To summarize, we would go back to the hotel if the food improved and the rooms were updated. At the moment we do not feel that we got value for money.

We would like to thank the staff for their service and we wish the hotel all the best for the future.

The Toorak is well equipped, clean and staff very helpful. The food was very good value for money with good choice and portions. The facilities within the overall complex are excellent and being only 5 minutes walk from the beech it is a great location for all ages. Looking forward to going back again.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are worth asking for.

Fantastic long weekend, nothing too much trouble for any of the friendly, efficient staff. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Food excellent and served by attentive staff and with a smile........not a bad wine list either. My 60th party held in the Arlington room could not have been better I enjoyed immensely. The leisure facilities are spacious and clean with plenty of choice of pools for young and old. All in all a wonderful weekend.

Just back from a brilliant dance weekend held at the Toorak. An annual event held by our dance teachers, but this was my first visit to this hotel. I was staying in a single room which was of adequate size and had all the facilities I required, bed, shower/bath, kettle etc. Loo was a bit awkward as it was right by the wall and I found that with the toilet roll holder jutting out from the wall you had to sit at an angle. Key card was a bit tricky until you got the hang of it and also the room got quite hot during the night, minor gripes.

The food in the restaurant was excellent, I had a beef and pork dish (on separate days) and both were of good quality cuts of meat with no fat. There was a good selection of dishes available from the menu. The staff were pleasant and helpful and when I asked for a plate of vegetables instead of the regular menu they were happy to oblige. Unfortunately, the food was so nice, we all ate way too much and didn't feel like dancing afterwards as we were all too full up.

The dance room was of a suitable size with a lovely floor. There was a nice ambience to the room with ample seating and a staffed bar.

A visit to the leisure facilities is also a must, but it does suffer in some areas. Another of my hobbies is Snooker and I had been challenged to a match by a fellow dancer. I was disappointed by the tables which seemed to be catered more for kids than the serious player. There were more shades of red in the rack than on a Dulux colour chart and if you suffer with a bad back, be warned, you have to bend down quite low to take your shot. Having passed the bowling area, this seems to be an area where they excel having several bowls areas (strips more than bowling greens) to play on.

As this is a complex of hotels and facilities, there are several car parks to cater for guests, but these tend to fill up quickly and are quite tricky to manouevre around with tight spaces and lots of ramps to levels and dead ends.

All in all decent fhotel at a reasonable price. Well located, close to Torquay's facilities.

Room Tip: No single room supplement.

Just back from two nights at The Toorak. We were very pleased with our rooms which were spacious and very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. The food and ambience in the Restaurant was excellent and the service very efficient and helpful. It seemed nothing was too much trouble. We also took the opportunity to use the swimming pool, which was clean and just the right temperature. All in all a very pleasant stay. We came to The Toorak to consider the Hotel for a music event in 2015 and have no hesitation in going ahead with our plans at this delightful Hotel.

My husband and myself are both in our 40's and brought my dad here for a short break as he had been some years ago and really enjoyed himself. We were not expecting much as we are rather picky but we couldn't have got it more wrong.

The moment we landed plenty of car park space wright outside main entrance, my dad as mobility issues, the receptionist was so helpful we had lovely rooms just down the corridor with the private terrace, the rooms were big a flat screen tv and tea/coffee and biscuits the biscuits do make a difference. The bathroom was big and they provided aids to help my dad get into the bath to use the shower. It would have been easier if they have walk in showers but we new this before we went and aids provided worked. The terrace was really nice as we did manage to sit outside and read on a couple of afternoons. We slept really good wish we could have taken the mattress home with us.

The food was excellent and I do like my food, the breakfast had lots of choices and the scrambled eggs were the best I have ever had also the bacon was really good not cheap thin bacon that you often get in hotels that are 4*. Evening meal was just as good we never had to wait for our order to be taken the food was hot always a few choices without having to pay the extra if you wanted something different. Our waitress was fantastic so lovely her name is Klara she really looked after us and when I asked for certain foods without the sauce or minus some other ingredient she sorted it and offered alternative, the food was as nice as many restaurants I have eaten in.

The pool was good the bigger pool is not as warm as the curvy pool but still their was no children when we stayed it was only a couple of adults in both pools and the Jacuzzi was great and hot.

The entertainment was for the age group it was playing to most people who were their were retired and it was a lot 60's which I like anyway and a bit of ballroom dancing, I got the impression they catered for the crowd they have at the time, the drinks were good prices which makes a change for a hotel.

Overall we really did enjoy this hotel and would take my dad back again, all the staff were helpful and pleasant and if their native language was not English it did not impact as their English was perfect. The hotel could do with a little TLC updating in some areas but that didn't impact on our stay and I wish they had hotel in other areas of the country.

Room Tip: Room with private terrace are really good if you have some nice weather
