“Brilliant in every way”

Stayed here for two nights with my children and parents, three generations all equally enamoured. The hotel is throughly charming, full of character and elegance. The rooms we stayed in were super, large and clean with elegant decor and views down onto manicured gardens. My parents' room also had a huge balcony on which we could enjoy a cup of tea supplied in the room, with china cup and saucer and a tea pot to make it in. It is these little touches which set the Palace apart. Dinner was served in a vast restaurant, melba toast and warm bread rolls with delicious cornish wrapped butter, were served as you arrived. The traditional silver service dinner was delightful and made the whole experience very special. Children's choices were as good as the adults.
Golf was available for all members of the group, children welcomed with clubs measured to fit at no extra charge if a guest in the Hotel. For myself and Mum a short stroll through the grounds to Ansey Cove was a delight, returning 5o walk the rest of the golf course with the family. The pool was cool but did not stop us enjoying it both days. The service made the stay extra special with a smile from all the staff we met. We will definitely return. Thank you for a most memorable experience.

Ive been staying here for over 25 years (age 40) , the hotel and staff are in a world of their own, from the minute you enter you are taken back in time to when customers of hotels were treated as guests. All of the communal areas are bang upto date , true some of the bedrooms are dated but they are always being upgraded. The facilities are 2nd to none , and the resturant is 5 star , if you stay here but dont use the resturant you are missing the point. You would pay more for the equivilent dinner in a nice resturant than you are paying to say here dinner , bed and breakfast. The staff I have always found very helpfull. I stayed with my wife and two children 10 and 12 and made use of the pool and golf course. If you want a sterile atmosphere with plastic staff and microwave dinners try a five star chain hotel. If you want excellent value , first class food and attentive polite staff give the palce a go

I was booked in by my company together with my wife and I was disgusted with the lack of service at this hotel. Midday there appeared to be no-one on duty and one had to wait for hours for service or wander around in the hope of finding someone to attend to you. Ther was no assistance with ones bags when you arrived and the parking was considerable distance away from the hotel. I was so put out by my experience that I complained to the RAC and AA about the hotel's star rating it only deserves one or at the most two stars. They also advertise the gardens and golf course not mentioning that these are the same area.

Booked a weekend conference here for approx. 40 people, including a formal civic reception. A huge hotel with plenty of bright, comfortable public areas for delegates to sit and chat. The bedrooms were old-fashioned, but clean and comfortable, and I had stunning views from my room. The food was superb, and the waiter service was discrete and professional at all times. Coffee breaks automatically included decaf coffee as an option, along with hand made biscuits and fresh melon and pineapple. Front of house staff were all helpful and polite. There is a short but delightful short walk through the grounds to a pretty cove - great for some exercise and fresh air following hours sitting in lectures. Booking terms were reasonable, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I stayed there with my parents for Easter. As everyone mentioned, the rooms were dated which I was fine with it. But the lighting was so insufficient and my room was full of mirror which was a bit scary... The worst thing was the showers in both of our room were not working properly. Since we only stayed there for one night, we didn't ask for any help.

A lovely experience made special by excellent service by friendly and attentive staff. Very good facilities for the sport minded (golf, tennis, snooker & table tennis). The lounge and other common areas are lovely and the restaurant provided really first class food.

Just spent a fab weekend in The Palace Hotel Torquay. The room and facilities were excellant no complaints. Food outstanding!! Service excellant. The hotel is dated but this only adds to the charm why spoil a beautiful place but making it too modern

Room Tip: Non garden view rooms are lovely and half the price the whole district is outstanding so you do not...
