We stayed in early October 2013 on a Bed Breakfast and Evening Meal offer. The Hotel staff were exceptionally customer oriented and the overall service was only spoilt by a mix up on the final bill.
The Hotel management are clearly gradually upgrading the property, and the room we had (Room 6) was large, tastefully decorated and had excellent bathroom facilities. The only slight niggle we had was that the wardrobe was a little on the small side.
The restaurant had a magnificent sea view, and the quality of the food was very high.

Room Tip: Room 6 was very large with a partial sea view and balcony

Went for a family wedding and had a great time. Very relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful views. Lovely setting. Food very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Only downside were drinks at 'hotel' prices.

Would recommend to all for small wedding who want something special.

Thank you for your review. It is nice to know you thought so highly of The Orestone Manor at a Wedding. I am assuming you were here as an invited wedding Guest.
Please understand that although we are a Country hotel with all the extra overheads that come along with that, so we can never compete on price with an ordinary pub, I think we offer competitive prices compared with most bars and Gastro type pubs. You did not say what you were drinking and we only stock the higher quality brands and labels but at the time of printing here are some of our prices
Becks Vier on draught pint 3.50
Peroni on draught pint 4.50
Wines from 15.75 a bottle
at least 8 wines 20.00 or under
Red devon Cider on draught pint 3.50
Moet 60.00
Kind regards
Neil and the team

We returned to Orestone Manor for a short break at the end of September having stayed twice in the past 15 years. On the way down, we were worried by discovering a terrible review which, by our own experience, was simply nasty and wrong. Our experience was the opposite. The food and views were superb and the owners and staff were pleasant, accommodating and attentive. We have recommended Orestone and its wonderful surroundings in the past and will continue to do so with confidence. Marion S

We have just returned from a short break at Orestone Manor and the 135 mile travel to get there was well worth it. The room had a lovely view over Lyme Bay, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. The hotel, itself, is located on the outskirts of Torquay in a quiet hamlet and is a great place for a short break so long as you don't mind a steep downhill walk to the nearby beach. The walk back up ensures you are ready for a wonderful dinner and Orestone make sure you have a really good dining experience.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view

Thank you for your review
I believe you have hit the nail on the head with your Hidden Gem description which is the beauty of it. However we do need people like yourself to find us which is not so easy being we are a bit out of the way so I am always grateful to people such as yourselves who spread the word
Thank you
Neil.

Once again a wonderful few days at Orestone Manor, room, food, hospitality all absolutely perfect. The staff are always so polite, helpful, and friendly. Always a pleasure. Never tasted better food anywhere else. Will certainly be returning soon. Fantastic.
