“Spacious home from home, equipped to a very high standard”

Rowell cottage has a warm and friendly feel. The modern & large well equipped kitchen has everything you need and is set separate to a spacious dining room.... Also downstairs is a nice sized front living room again well equipped with tv, cable and DVD player as well as board games.... Modern bathroom also downstairs, with lovely bath & powerful shower....

Upstairs 3 good sized bedrooms with plenty of closets n hangers.... Also another toilet.....

So to reflect on house... It is big enough for most sized families and other than your personnel items, you will not need to take extras.... All rooms very very clean and tidy....

Location......perfectly positioned to get in n out the the vibrant harbour, yet set in a peaceful location, probably only 5 minutes walk..... Only small warning is that your walk back is all uphill and it is quite steep, so the less able might need to consider this a little, but it will be no problem for most people.

All in all house is very good value for money

“Torquay holiday”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Rowell house is very well situated and the town is within walking distance. Beware if you are not able to walk up the hill though. Two very large bedrooms with handbasins and a small double room. The house is furnished in keeping with its age but with a modern large kitchen. Plenty of room downstairs with a good big table seating all the family in the dining room. All in all a good rental holdiay home would be very good with a few tweeks.
The house is very well appointed and I would have given a better rating if not for three things, beds in the single room (this need looking at the slates were not fixed to the base properly and I was worried they would give way), the upstairs loo is very tight, and the seal around the bath needs looking at (leaking onto the floor).

Management Response

Clearly we can't do anything about the size of the upstairs toilet. It is usable, but "tight". Your feedback is useful for other potential guests.

On your other points, thankyou for your feedback. We were not aware of the problem in the bathroom, which is new. We will get this looked at. We are aware that the slats on the single beds are not fixed to the base, but nobody has had a problem with this previously and you did not raise this when you were there. We will look to address this if you believe that there is a potential risk.

I'm not sure that an overall feedback of "average" or your ratings for the quality of bedding and mattresses is a fair summary of your comments or give the right information to potential future guests. We welcome your feedback and we will try to address your concerns, but I would suggest looking at your ratings and consider whether these are appropriate.

“Great heritage cottage newly refurbished”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2011 for a stay in September 2011

Rowell House is well located high in Torquay with other similar heritage cottages. It is only a short walk down the hill to the marina, pubs, restaurants and shops. The cottage is extremely quaint and well refurbished. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs (2 doubles and a twin) and a large downstairs living area. The kitchen is large, modern and well equipped. There is also good quality wireless internet and cable TV. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at Rowell House and would highly recommend it for a stay on the English Riviera.
