This is the second time I have visited The Singing Kettle whilst visiting Torquay. I was visiting with my 2 daughters, one who is a fussy eater, one who will eat almost anything and myself,a Coeliac needing a Gluten free diet. We were staying at the Premier Inn but chose to eat all of our meals here.
We had full English breakfasts,Cream Tea's, Jacket Potatoes, Burgers, and Cakes. Including the Gluten free versions and we did not have a single bad meal,
Staff are friendly and obliging. I saw the staff using separate utensils for the Gluten free selection to avoid cross contamination which I thought was fabulous.
This little place is a Coeliac's dream.
Thanks to all the lovely staff for making us feel welcome and full !!

Excellent service from both owners and staff. The cream teas come with a gluten-free option and both taste superb. The scones arrive warm with a generous helping of clotted cream and jam. It's a great place to sit out on a sunny day and watch the world go by whilst enjoying the great food. Would certainly recommend a visit and will definitely be visiting again.

My partner and I visited the tea rooms hoping for some breakfast. We'd arrived before the rooms opened but the staff welcomed us in and got us drinks before they were due to open!

The staff were eager to aid us and were very obliging when I asked to check if the veggie sausages were vegan. They weren't but the staff pointed out alternative items on the menu and said they had vegan spread and soy milk for teas and coffees which I was surprised and very happy about! They also said they ha separate cooking equipment for vegetarians - unheard of in such small establishments.

When the food came it was gorgeous (brie and bacon toastie for my partner which he chomped through! And mini breakfast for me - the hash browns are amazing!) And the coffee was rich and went down a treat.

Thoroughly recommend the singing kettle!

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are always happy to start before our official opening time when we are ready. We thank you also for the kind words about how we look after people with special dietary requirements and it was to that end that we sourced fryers that would allow us to do this for vegetarian and gluten free foods. We hope that if you return to Torquay you will pay us another visit.

We went to the Singing Kettle after reading all the good reviews!
Firstly, the reception was a little hostile on arrival, nobody behind the counter.
After placing our order, the food did not take long,we were expecting great things!
The bread for the sandwiches was cheap sliced (supermarket basic)there was not taste to it.
The fillings were ok.
The scone was not freshly baked, just warmed through,it was rather dry.
The mint choc cake was better, but a bit sickly.
We left felling rather disappointed and have definitely had better!
