This hotel provides excellent self catering facilities. The self catering apartments are spacious, clean and comfortable with wifi and flat screen TV's. The suite's which have separate bedrooms have TV's in each room (I have stayed in most of the apartments in this hotel) they all have modern walk in showers. The kitchen areas are well equipped with modern cookers, hobs, microwaves and fridge freezers. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful providing a really good service. Parking is secure and off road and the garden is really pleasant.

I have nothing bad or negative to report about these self catering apartments.

Room Tip: Just tell the owner what is important to you and he will try to accomodate

I have revisited the Ansteys Lea Hotel after my first visit last year. I was pleasantly surprised to find there were self catering apartments which I stayed in. All was brand new, nice and clean and I loved the huge TV! Owner was very helpful and I had a nice breakfast in the new dining room. I don't understand these negative reviews, and I will definitely be returning to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Go for the self catering apartments, they are spacious and modern.

My family and I stayed for a week here booking a self catering flat. Unsure what to expect due to previous reviews but knowing what idiots some people are willing to make my own opinion. We were welcomed by the owner and got on straight away. Throughout our week he recommended places to go visit and eat which were all great, just what you need if you stay somewhere unfamiliar. Even though we were self catering he gave us the option of breakfast and boy are we glad we said yes, kids loved it and hubby! Cleanliness of our rooms was fine, bathrooms clean and we had room service again even though self catered! Overall for my family good value for money. would recommend.

We booked two rooms at this hotel due to be unable to get in anywhere else at the end of August the family room pictures looked great on the website and hotel seemed as though it had been recentley refurbished. After a 4 and a half hour journey to Torquay we arrived to a messy exterior of a hotel, we were unable to find the owner and got let in by a workman. The reception was dark and dirty, paintwork looks like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Our family room although a really good size hadn't been been cleaned and our bedroom had a very strong aroma of Cat wee. Upon sitting on the bed you could feel the springs in the matress. Our inlaws who had booked a double room also found there room to not be clean, dusty mirrors , bathroom dark and dirty and again a strange smell. We had been there for 20 minutes when we all decided we did not want to stay any longer. We spoke to the owner who just didn't seem to care or offer any form of explanation or apology. The owner did confirm he would give us a refund, however we rang the company we made the booking with to clarify this would be the case. We then had to try and find another hotel to accomadate us and had a stressfull few hours ringing around other hotels until we found another with 2 rooms. Dont book this hotel the pictures make it look as though it's a modern and clean place to stay the reality is something completley different.

The hotel had doubled booked our room, so when we arrived late afternoon, there was no place for us to stay. This in the middle of the summer hols with two young children. We found the hotel staff unconcerned we had to find another family room in Torquay at 5pm. They half heartedly phone a few place but got nowhere. We nearly went home, but luckily we found a lovely place (who were very concerned how we were treated) to stay for the week. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL, I do not recommend.

Very clean, bright and homley. We were staying with a 14 week old baby and the owners were very accommodating. There was enough room to have baby play mats lying around and not feel cooped up. The shower was a bit slow to drain which I mention and it was seen to whilst we were out. Breakfast was good as well. Overall we had a great short stay and felt very comfortable in what is a great area to visit. Slight deviation... If you do go you have to try the fish and chips at Hanburys in Babbacombe.
