“Great Hotel in a great part of the country.”
Reviewed 27 November 2011

This hotel was spotlessly clean and we could not fault the attentiveness of the staff. Yes it is a bit 'faded grandeur' but that only added to the charm and homely atmosphere of this impressive building. The breakfast was delicious with a good selection. We would recommend walking the coastal path to Torquay for wonderful sea views (for reasonably fit types). We walked into Torquay in the evening along the road and were surprised how quick it was - about 10 mins. We had our rooms cleaned every day and fresh towels supplied, tea and biscuits were also replenished. Would be great to sit outside on the terrace in front of the hotel in the summer and watch the sun set - we will have to save that for another visit.

Room Tip: check to see if the room has a sea view - ours didn't. It would have been a bonus.

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas last year and we really enjoyed it. Local buses ran from just outside which is a bonus if you have a free bus pass. The beach is a few yards away and even in December we were able to go for a walk most days. The staff could not do enough for us and the food was excellent.

Room Tip: Ask reception and they will gladly give details.

This hotel is (a bit dated, but) lovely in location and the staff but the shower was completely rubbish. It ruined it a bit as the shower was so inadequate!

Took a trip to meet up with friends staying in the adjacent timeshare. What a super hotel. The room was huge and fully equipped food excellent and the facilities superb. The staff could not have been more helpful and for hat we got it was excellent value for money. Will definately go again.

Room Tip: Get a sea view it is worth the extra

Just returned froma 2 night stay at the Osborne. We booked 3 rooms as we were over from Canada and planning to see family for the first time in two years. Had the rooms Torre, Brett, and Oster?. The person previously in Torre had been smoking and the room stunk to high heaven of cigarettes (the windows had been left open to try and get rid of the smell). TheOster? room was filthy with a stained shower curtain, dirt ingrained in the corners of the bathroom, broken lock on the bathroom door, dust on the headboard you could write you name on, dirty, scuffed walls and a generally overall dingy look. The management agreed to move the person from Torre, but said that was the only room that could be exchanged because they were full. The management also agreed that our room was dirty but did nothing about it. They also mistakenly put someone else's room service charges on our bill. These were definitely not the rooms used in their publicity or on their website. The best thing about our rooms were the kettle and tv. For two nights running you had to chase down a member of staff to get a drink in the bar! If you want four star hotel look elsewhere - the Osborne is sadly lacking.

Room Tip: avoid, Brett, Torreand Oster? next to each other up a few stairs from the reception

Stayed for a long weekend with my wife recently in one of the timeshare apartments. Very spacious, sleep family very comfortably. Decor - shabby chic, however unspoilt sea views could not be beaten.
Loved the setting and scenery.
Hotel staff were very busy and although they did their best it showed in the food service.
Timeshare reception was a bit odd - in the basement/cellar but you get used to that. Initial welcome from "hall porter" was dissappointing as he assumed knowledge and was obviously comfortable in his position. Too casual for me, however, managers were much better.
Would recommend this break to families in Summer months and couples in colder seasons.

Room Tip: Go top floor front of building.
