“Excellent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

Stayed here at the beginning of July for our 20th wedding anniversary. We were warmly welcomed at the door and offered a complimentary cup of tea/freshly ground coffee, which was a nice touch. Our room was immaculately clean, comfortable and spacious with modern décor. The welcome sherry was a nice surprise along with the bottled water which was replaced every morning, much appreciated after the coastal walks we'd been on, up and down the hills! We had no phone signal, EE, but there was always a good strong wifi signal in the room so we were able to stay in contact with kids back home. The breakfasts were plentiful and so much choice, with homemade jams/marmalades, muesli, granola aswell as cooked or continental, they cater for all. This is a family run hotel and they were always very friendly, polite and helpful and if we stay in Torquay again we will be going back to the Meadfoot Bay Hotel.

Room Tip: Going by the general standard of this hotel I would imagine all the rooms would be equally good.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a compact classic double room.

Arrived a few hours early before check in, rather cheekily parked up and asked if this was OK, was immediately greeted by the hotel manager who was extremely polite and was made to feel very welcome.
Was shown the hotel and was given keys to our room but was asked to come back in an hour but was allowed to leave the car in the grounds, this was perfect as we arrived 3 hours early and wanted a rest, so took a two minute walk down to the meadfoot beach and had an ice cream in the sunshine at the meadfoot beach cafe.

Stunning views of the beach and the weather was perfect, we eventually made our way back to the hotel and was allowed into our room, this was perfect for two of us and what we needed, enough room very comfortable bed, soft and enough pillows with a large window that opened wide as it was a warm weekend. Bathroom was really spacious and clean throughout.

We went out for the days and cam back late evenings....access to the hotel was secure at all times and had a lovely little terrace area out the front to sit and have a drink, or a read etc. The hotel is tucked away on a slight hill which was nice as you felt secluded rather than being right on the road.

Every morning came down to a vast spread of food and drink for breakfast (buffet) almost too much to choose, was always asked for tea or coffee as well as a cooked breakfast, so what ever took your fancy it was available.

Staff were always polite, friendly and helpful, was given a map soon as we arrived and shown the location and some of the attractions along with how to get to them. Was also asked for a preference of seating during breakfast. The hotel seemed always busy during our stay but was also quiet and staff were always attentive.

Location wise for what we was after was perfect, its a couple of minutes walk from the beach/sea if you wanted to walk that, roughly a 5 to 10 minute walk to the main harbour and towards the main high street (and attractions), but close to local bus links.

It's a 5 minute walk to the bus stop which will take you into Babbacombe where the model village is located, and the same bus will take you near Kent's cavern. But bus links are very close to other attractions and areas.

The only downside if you want to say that is if you walk back to the hotel from the harbour, there is rather a very steep hill at one stage which is manageable for someone my age however others may struggle, but that's not the hotels fault. They do give you a local taxi firm's number which we didn't use but i'm sure must be a good service as we received nothing but the best from the hotel.

This was my first time in Torquay and would love to return real soon and hope the hotel has room as i will definitely be looking to stay here again.
Finally there was also free wifi access through out which was strong throughout my stay

I picked this hotel after reading all the great reviews as somewhere special to enjoy our minimoon....and we were not disappointed.
From arrival, we felt welcome.
A lovely smiley gent opened the door to us (Gary). Once inside, a quick chat n show around. He could not have been more helpful.
First impressions are everything. The hotel was immaculate and well decorated. Potpourri dotted around and well lit.
Our room was on the second floor; no lift but not a problem. Nice and open planned with lots of natural light. Bathroom was beautiful; bathtub was my highlight. Lovely terrace through the patio doors with lots of room for us to enjoy the view and the sun. Also a lovely water feature. A welcome drink of sherry in a personalised decanter with mini glasses is a lovely touch. We even had rose petals scattered on our bed with little hearts, as well as dotted around the apartment. Attention to detail was amazing.
Hotel is a lovely 5min walk from the beach. Bit of a hill, so maybe not an ideal heel-wearing situation. 10mins in the other direction to town and lots of restaurants. If you love steak, try Cottoneyed Joe's!!! Another lovely sandy beach lies just round the corner from town which is absolutely beautiful also.
Hospitality is impeccable, always service with a smile. Chris is an absolute delight with his broad welcoming smile in a morning.
LOVELY hotel and already looking forward to our next stay. Not even 24hrs since we left and missing it.
Lovely family run hotel with the added personality and personal touch. Absolute gem :)

We stayed at this hotel for our anniversary week-end having looked at the good reviews on tripadvisor. Having found the hotel were shown into the lounge by Gary one of the owners who offered us tea/coffee which I thought was a nice touch. Our bed-room and on-suite were compact but the decor was lovely with every-thing we needed. The quality of the breakfasts were great and they catered for every-one with cooked and continental. The hotel is in a quiet area but close enough to the centre of Torquay that you can walk there if you don't mind going up-hill on the way back. The propietors were helpful and welcoming and I can't wait to stay again when next in Torquay.

This is the 3 rd time we have stayed at the meadfort bay and I must say its just getting better and better .We stayed in one of the new suites this time and from decor ,quality of finishes and the size is excellent and even better it as its own outdoor terrace which is a little peace of heaven so you can sit or lie down on the sunbeds provided .
The excellent breakfast is served between 08.30 - 09.30 am.This was fine for us but may be a little restricted for others , there is a large choice to satisfy all diets and the full English breakfast is superb and we must thank Chris and Caroline for the wonderful service nothing is too much for them.
I would highly recommend the meadfort and must say a big Thankyou to Gary who is always helpful and left us a lovely welcome drink for our anniversary. , and of course to Cris, Caroline, Natalie on a SUPERB family run hotel.
