We stayed here last week on a family trip to Devon and Cornwall. All 4 of us, including 2 fussy teenagers, agreed that overall, this was the best all round hotel we stayed in and the other 3 were really good too!
Firstly the welcome and service. Absolutely second to none. The guys who run this hotel went out of their way to give us helpful advice including discount voucher to an attraction we wanted to visit and advice on parking (free). This was also the most comfortable bed I slept in and the room although quite narrow, was nicely decorated and had character. Our teenagers room was particularly nice. They loved the décor, the hotel and the welcome. Breakfast was great and well organised. Would definitely recommend

Many thanks for taking time to review a review and we are pleased you all enjoyed your stay. For other readers, we think Mum and Dad had a double, whilst the younger members of the party (we have a minimum age of 12 by the way), shared a Premier Twin.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found the local information we can provide, helpful - we try to keep up to date and also use other guests' comments to help with future recommendations. The parking advice by the way, was about visiting attractions etc., we have on site parking free for all guests, so parking at the hotel should never be an issue.
We're also pleased you enjoyed our beds, they all come with luxury toppers to give the extra comfy feel.

We booked this hotel as a last minute thing to visit a friend, The hotel and staff could not be faulted. lovely attractive building, and furnishings. We were greeted immediately and the owner was very pleasant, professional and helpful. Handing us a map and information about Torquay.
We only stayed overnight but the room was well appointed (standard double) and decorated in contemporary modern style. Our room was at the front overlooking the drive.
It was a very quiet hotel at night and we slept soundly. The hotel is in a nice leafy road and we weren't troubled by any noise.
the breakfast was excellent and Jean serving us,was very professional and friendly. The dining room and furnishings again very attractive. off street ample parking too.
The attention to detail in this lovely Georgian Hotel is perfect.
Next time we visit Torquay we would rebook without hesitation. we wouldn't need to look anywhere else!
Thank you

Room Tip: standard double over looking the drive way had a good view and you could keep an eye on your car.

Just come back from two nights in this hotel. The room was clean and had everything you need for a comfortable stay and the breakfast was very nice. The hotel is minutes from the centre of Torquay and the wonderful Orange Tree which is a must if you if like fine dining.

Many thanks for taking the time to review us and we're glad you enjoyed your stay.
We also agree the Orange Tree is a fabulous restaurant and our guest's top four are the Orange Tree, the Old Vienna, No7 Fish Bistro, and the Elephant. All are a bit special, but it's always best to call ahead before yor stay to book them as they get very busy throughout the year.

Sometimes, it's not a good idea to go the the #1 TripAdvisor-rated hotel. Sometimes, the hotel has already gotten used to being #1 and it disappoints.
But, as for the Haytor, it fully deserves its top-notch rating. The hosts are charming, the rooms are nicely appointed, the building is steeped in history, and the breakfast is excellent.
Well done!

We ought perhaps correct a minor error, we're not actually #1 and have not ever actually made it there, though your are correct to stay we're trying and we hope to get there at some point. (We may appear as #1 in some of the filtered searches, but not in the full listings yet).
Thanks again your your review and we hope to see you again soon.
