“Really lovely stay”
Reviewed 5 September 2010

My husband & I stayed at the Haytor Hotel for two nights and couldn't fault it. Very friendly reception, lovely comfy, clean room & a great breakfast.
It's in an ideal location, nice and quiet but within walking distance of both Meadfoot Beach (great coastal walks) & Torquay harbour area.
We definitely want to return soon as we had such a lovely weekend here.

Loved this hotel - the staff, decor, gardens and food are all excellent. (and the ducks!). Torquays High St and the seafront is approx 5 minutes walking distance (Royal Torbay Yacht Club is approx 8 minutes!). If you are thinking of travelling to this area I guarantee you will have a wonderful stay at the Haytor - it is far superior to any other hotels in the area.

During the last few years I've stayed in a lot of very good (and some not so good) hotels. The Haytor is certainly one of the nicest that I've stayed in. On arrival you are warmly greeted by the owner. The hotel is spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished throughout. Bedrooms have a fabulous flat screen TV with freeview chanels, a very comfortable bed, and there is piping hot water day and night. In addition there is a large, free car park on site. Breakfast is excellent and the service even better.

The location itself is great - very quiet despite being just a 5 minute walk from the harbour. There's a nice area in the garden where guests can sit and watch the two resident ducks waddle across the lawn. All in all an excellent base for Torquay and the surrounding area. We were sad at having to leave so soon!

We are just back from spending a week in the Haytor Hotel. My wife and I together with six more of my sailing yacht crew were participating in a local regatta and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Haytor. It is in effect a boutique hotel with a most welcome approach. Chris and Rob the owners go absolutely out of their way to look after you and the breakfast is simply the best I have ever experienced. Huge choice and not the usual greasy mess. The hotel is located genuinely within walking distance of the town centre and the grounds and duck pond are worth a look. We could not find fault with this hotel and are well used to good hotels to compare with.

Local restaurant attractions include No7, The Elephant, Carey Arms & Biancos. Chris will give you info but these are on the should visit list, especially No7 if you are a fish fan.

Having looked on the web at hotels that I thought would compare, when seeing them in the flesh, there is no comparison.

I cannot recommend that Haytor enough. Thanks Chris!

Just returned from a lovely long weekend to Torquay and we stayed again (for the third time) at the Haytor Hotel. This hotel is brillant - Chris, Robert and Jean really look after you and the atmosphere is lovely, tranquil and peaceful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and not too hot or too cold. I must also mention the lovely products that are in the bathroom, such as shower gel, shampoo and condition - really high quality products. The breakfast is lovely, full English or continental. I really cannot sing the praises enough for this hotel - it is an absolute gem!!

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in August with my sister and her partner (who had stayed there before). A very warm welcome from Chris. He was very heplful in recommending restaurants and places to visit. A lovely breakfast cooked by Rob and served by Jean. The hotel decor was beautiful and the rooms spotless. We would definately stay again.
