“Worth a stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2010

Just returned from 5 days here and over all enjoyed our stay. Down sides were the size of our en suite, you could just about turn around in the shower and you could only sit comfortably on the loo with the shower doors open. The walls are thin - our snoring neighbours kept us awake for 3 nights and our bed creaked when you turned over. However the room and hotel in general were extremely clean and tidy having received a refurb in 2007. Lovely pool area and breakfast delicious served very promptly every morning. Staff friendly and chatty which made us feel welcome. Good location for evening strolls along the sea front however the road leading to the sea front is steep at times.

My Wife and I stayed at the Riviera Lodge in June of this year. It was the first time we had stayed there. Previously we have stayed at the Grand hotel and the Corbyn head hotel. To our delight we found the Riviera Lodge to be far superior to either of the former hotels. We stayed in one of the suites which was extremely clean, comfortable, spacious, and well equipped, complete with large screen tv. Our hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Although we only had breakfast at the hotel it was delicious. Value for money was exceptional. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this hotel to other travellers.

This hotel is the best of the smaller hotels we have stayed in. Lee and Carsten, the owners, were so welcoming, friendly and helpful that it made our stay really relaxing. Both breakfasts and dinners were delicious.....so nice to have fresh food for a change! The hotel was kept really clean and although our room was a little small it had everything we needed for our break (you can upgrade to a larger room but unfortunately there weren't any left). The public areas were well thought out with different areas for eating and relaxing and the pool and the furniture around it were spotless. All in all we had a great time and will not hesitate to book again.

My Partner and I booked this hotel after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and it was exactly as described. We loved our stay at this hotel. The hosts Carsten and Lee were welcoming and friendly and the hotel was lovely. We treated ourselves to the Suite which was spacious, comfortable and spotless. We felt relaxed and "at home" immediately. The food was delicious with plenty of choice for breakfast. We booked for dinner at the hotel on our first night and this too was lovely, especially the pudding - the Tiramisu is to die for!! The location is excellent, tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet only a 5 min walk from the seafront, in fact we were able to walk to most of our list of "Things to Do in Torquay" directly from the hotel. Always on hand to offer thoughtful suggestions re sightseeing, or help you make dinner reservations / suggestions, give weather reports, help choose a DVD to watch in your room in the evening or simply offering you an umbrella when its raining Carsten and Lee clearly give a lot of thought to their guests yet make running this efficient hotel look effortless. All in all very nicely done!

My partner and I stayed at the Riviera Lodge Hotel for four nights in June. The hotel was lovely with a relaxed atmosphere. The couple running the hotel were very friendly and the place was spotless. Our room was nice and comfortable, the only drawback was the bed which needed the matress replacing (it creaked when you moved and was a little bit uncomfortable). The food was great, and the cooked breakfast was lovely. We had an evening meal at the hotel once which was also really good. It was necessary to climb a large hill to get from the hotel into town which was the only small drawback to its location. Having said that the hotel was close to the centre and the beach and Torquay is a very hilley place! The gardens and swimming pool were also nice and quiet. Overall the hotel was great and we both recommend it as a lovely place to stay.
