we have visited torquay for the past four years and love it there , and this is our second stay at the glendower , my wife and i along with our nearly 5 month old son were made very welcome , rooms are always kept nice and clean , beds are very comfortable , breakfasts were made to perfection and loads to choose from .we enjoyed the company of bob, lesley and carla we loved sitting in the bar having a drink and a chat . from the b and b you are just 10 min from the beach and jump in the car you will have lots to visit without going to far . to sum up very pleasant and nice . will be back next year if not before .........a++++++++

Room tip: first floor is good if you have a pram

Felt like home, brilliant Craig. Happy that you felt that way and we too enjoyed chatting in the bar and on the patio when we sloped off for a quick fag. It was lovely to meet you and Sarah and little Oliver and glad you had a good time.
We look forward to seeing you next year, or before, and don't forget to mention the returners discount when you call to book.
See you soon, all the best and many thanks for your review.

Both myself, my wife and of course Amber would like to thank Bob, Lesley & Carla for a wonderful break after the disasterous begining of our holiday. It was truly a wonderful stay for us all. The hotel is very clean, decorated to an amazing standard and the beds are extremely comfortable, there is such a good variety of food for breakfast which was also wonderful. We will definately be returning.

We are so glad that the first part of your holiday was a disaster, if it hadn't been, you wouldn't have found us.
Losing the tent, getting soaked and being given a chalet that was infested with ants, any one of these would ruin a holiday so to get them all must have been awful. But, all these things lead to you ending up here where we were able to help you recover and enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Don't bother with a new tent, just book with us again and know that you will be ok and have a great time.
Best wishes to you both and Amber of course and many thanks for your review.

On arrival this B & B looked super and our welcome from Bob & Lesley left us impressed but when we opened the door to our superior room we were blown away! Oh my it was huge, great big bed and a stunning bathroom we were speechless. My first duty is to inspect the bedding, the towels and check the loo and they all passed with flying colours, hubby's job is to check the TV and lights no issues there. I have been in countless B & Bs over the years but never have we stayed in one like this. Glendower feels like an hotel and everything about our room smacked of quality and I loved the lotions in the bathroom which I thoroughly enjoyed using. Our room was downstairs and we were able to use the side door to unload the car and we were helped in by our lovely lovely hosts. Breakfast was brilliant, quality bacon and sausages from their local butcher, I adored the Eggs Glendower. There is a menu to choose from, my hubby is fussy but he was well fed so no grumbling, thank goodness. Carla, Bob & Lesley's daughter, took our orders as did Bob too they both worked their socks off looking after a full house and all the breakfasts are cooked to order by Lesley who popped her head out every morning in her immaculate uniforms, which were changed on a daily basis, to meet and greet. Torquay is stunning we toured during the day taking the whole area in and at night joined Bob, Lesley and Carla in the bar sampling the local beers and ciders a real treat and not overly expensive, I loved the banter and our hosts gave us ideas where to visit and dine, it topped our day off. Every morning I struggled to get out of bed, never have I slept in one this comfy and I had a perfect night's sleep and every morning I got later to breakfast but I sure wasn't going to miss it. Glendower is two minutes from Torre Abbey, the seafront is about five minutes away and there are bus stops outside either side of the hotel, sorry B & B which is very handy if you want to leave your car. Torquay train station again about four minutes away is so handy for rail users and our hosts offer a pick up and drop off service for arrivals and departures, a most generous offer IMHO. Bob, Lesley & Carla work very hard and we the guests get the very best service in return. Thank you Bob, Lesley & Carla for being such wonderful hosts. Both of us highly recommend the Glendower to everyone and we will definitely be back. 10 out of 10 we give you Five stars.

Room tip: Anyone with a disability ask for a downstairs room where you can access the side door to the car park, we found this very useful.

Hi Margo & Stuart
what a lovely review, thank you both very much. So glad you enjoyed your stay at the Glendower and also loved Torquay. It is a great place and we are so lucky to be able to live here and meet so many nice people.
It is difficult not to keep calling it an hotel, we often still call it that and for many years it was an hotel. It was changed to a B & B classification a few years ago but remains as much an hotel as it used to be which means it far exceeds expectations for our guests.
We hope it's not too long before we see you both again.
Bob, Lesley & Carla

We booked a long weekend break at the Glendower (found via dog friendly UK website) between Friday 10th and Monday 13th July 2015. Booking online was easy which was followed up by a phone call to Bob who was warm and friendly. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were greeted by Carla. We had 2 Dachshunds with us who were also made very welcome. We had a lovely ground floor room (better than stairs for dogs with little legs!), the en suite was fab with a separate toilet. Bob and Lesley are perfect hosts and advised us of the best walks in to Torquay and recommended places to eat and drink. We usually ended up in the small but cosy bar area at the hotel at the end of the evening though. Breakfast was wonderful, we had the full English every morning but there was ample fresh fruit, cereal, toast, tea/coffee as well. The tea/coffee/biscuits were replenished every day in our room, the bed was made and the en suite was cleaned daily too. Fabulous and friendly service at this gem of a hotel. We'll definitely be returning next time we visit South Devon. Thank you to Bob, Lesley, Carla and Ellie for a great short break!
