Starting off on a trip through Devon and Cornwall we had a quick stop at this Hotel.

We were well received by the owners who are extremely friendly and helpful.

Our room was rather small as was the bathroom (no bath) but everything is clean. All amenities are present but don't expect luxury.

Breakfast is as good as it comes in England, well prepared by the owner himself and fresh.

A lot more could be done with the garden and some parts outside could use a lick of paint but again, as long as you don't expect a palace it is acceptable.

The hotel (we should really say B&B) is not really at walking distance from Torquay so a car is a necesity.

If you don't want the big luxury then the Charterhouse is more than good enough.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Charterhouse. First of all Marion and Les let us book in early as we had a wedding to attend on our arrival day, so this was a massive help to us. We stayed in mid august so they were fully booked but they still couldn't do enough to accommodate us. Our room (#2) was lovely and clean and had a view of the pool. Breakfast was AMAZING! Local produce, perfectly cooked! We'll definitely be going back!

Just returned from a fabulous holiday in Torquay, Spent 5 nights at Charterhouse Hotel, 3 of us and 2 dogs and had a wonderful time. Marion and Les are just lovely and made us all feel really welcome. The breakfast was superb, have never eaten so much, was too good to resist particularly loved the fresh homebaked bread with the homemade bramble jam and marmalade. The Charterhouse Hotel is in the perfect location and with the watermeadow on the door step was great for the dogs. One of the most relaxing holidays we've spent. Thank you Marion and Les, hope to see you again next year! The Bailey family (Fizz & Ted).

We have just got back from our fantastic holiday in Torquay, what made it more wonderful was this delightful Hotel.
We got home looked at our Diary for next year and booked another 2 weeks!! Marion and Les who own and run the hotel are lovely people, couldnt have been nicer. Our rooms were beautiful ,and quiet with everything that we needed. The breakfasts are awesome ,with everything freshly cooked and lovely and hot.
Marion also makes her own Bramble Jam ,which you just have to try ,its delicious!!!
The hotel is SO near to the centre and surrounding beaches that you dont need a car.
We loved every minute and we will be seeing them next April AND August.
Thankyou Marion and Bob we think your wonderful .J Swift and family.

We stopped in room no 15 - a superior room of the hotel. The room was clean bright and spacious with a big bay window. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. There was a ensuite with a shower. Again this was nice and clean and the shower was spacious with plenty of hot water. No complaints at all. The breakfast provided was a buffet style, with as much as you can eat of traditionally english locally sourced eggs bacon sausages etc. Cereal fresh fruit and fruit juice were also available and the hotel provided home made marmalade, jam and bread which all tasted delicious. The hotel is family run and we had a warm greeting from the landlady Marion who described the local area over a nice cup of tea and was always on hand if needed to answer any questions we had about the area. We also had a quick dip in the outside pool, which was nice and clean and heated! All in all we had a wonderful stay at this excellent hotel with lovely hosts and I'd recommend it to anyone. We'll definitely return.

Room Tip: Our room (No. 15) was very good, & we were shown No 14 which was excellent with sea views.
