Stayed on this occasion in the superior room , a lovely clean tastefully decorated room with a sea view and a very comfy king sized bed. the ensuite bathroom is beautiful large with a bath complete with mood lighting and a separate shower the whole room finished to a very high standard.
this is our third visit to the Charterhouse Hotel , Marion and Les are so friendly and welcoming great hosts.
Buffet breakfast is excellent with lots of choice, lots of locally sourced produce and homemade bread and jams all served in a lovely breakfast room.

Always confident to recommend to friends.

We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and our garden room was great. Our own entrance and a great view of the garden. The room was very clean and lots of space with a sofa included! The breakfast is a definite highlight of the stay with fresh and local produce together with homemade jams, marmalades and bread. After the hearty breakfast we were full until tea time! Close to the town and a short drive to Paignton Zoo - which is a must when in the area. We wil definitely be will be returning in the future.

Room Tip: Garden Room is very peaceful and private - but the Riviera Room has been refurbished to a very high...

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Charterhouse whilst in Torquay for a wedding. Lovely warm welcome and our room was great - comfy bed and hot, powerful shower! The highlight though was definitely the breakfast, so much choice including home made bread and locally sourced sausages and bacon, and veggie sausages too. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We were in garden room (1?) which was lovely and airy due to the door straight out into the garden...

At the end of a three week holday in Europe we could not have asked for a more welcoming stay in Torquay. Marion , Les and family were the ultimate hosts in making sure that every aspect of our visit was as enjoyable as it could possibly be.They were helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Accomodation was clean and comfortable with tasteful decor. Our top storrey room had water views. The hotel is located in a quiet spot close to an enchanting village, but within walking distance of the major sites of Torbay. You can either walk or catch a bus to the quay area itself. It was a highlight of our holiday and we will return.

Room Tip: They do have a brand new room that has great views and superior facilities for a couple.

Our trip to England was our first, to see friends that we have not seen for over 10 years. Our expectations of Torquay were not great, but our arrival and welcome to The Charterhouse was a very pleasant surprise. We stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute of it - Marion and Les were perfect hosts and the room and facilities were fantastic. We were not over-struck with Torquay but our choice to stay at The Charterhouse made our 3 days in Torquay most enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone wanting first class accommodation and friendly welcoming hosts. Top notch!

One minute drive from the sea in Torquay, two minutes drive from the wonderful village of Cockington, Charterhouse Hotel is up a leafy lane amongst fabulous villas. What can I say about Charterhouse except first class in every way. Marion and Les are the perfect hosts, nothing is too small and they make sure you have a wonderful stay. The rooms are spotless, and you are given a very warm welcome. I have two small dogs so the garden room was perfect for me with a door leading out onto the ground floor terrace, a small table and chairs to sit opposite the small swimming pool. This is the second time I have stayed at Charterhouse and will continue to do so for many years to come. Les's cooking is outstanding, his three fruits marmalade to die for also is focaccio bread, divine. If you want a B&B a stones throw from Torquay at very reasonable rates, excellent service then look no further.
