“Brian & Debbie. Great service again.”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Once again Ian & Craig provided great hospitality, comfort (Room 10 - fabulous!) and humour. Always enjoy our stay there and would go nowhere else in Torquay. Always look forward to the breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Room 10 great and also very quiet.

hotel was very nice, we had a very warm welcome as soon as we got there. nice decorations, there was plenty of choice for breakfast. the hot tub was lovely but the swimming pool water was cold so we couldn't swim. good location. the only downside was torquay town centre, most of the shops are shabby and the town centre isn't very clean. seems to have gone downhill, we did enjoy getting the boat to brixham. the hotel service was lovely, 5 stars. will definitely recommend to our family and friends.

Loved the outdoor hot tub. The hosts were hospitable, attentive and professional. The rooms were clean with beautiful décor. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked and perfect. It is located on a hill which was a bit of a climb for my dad, but the bench located halfway up provided a nice little resting stop (to be fair we did over indulge in the superb restaurants in Torquay)! and he needed the exercise!

Just had a one night stay in the king room. As expected the room was very spacious and comfortable. Lovely big bathroom with his n hers sink, bath with shower over. Lovely size tv. Very comfortable big bed. We only saw the one host, he was welcoming, made us a lovely pot of tea on arrival and was happy to explain the local area. Plenty of choice at breakfast, fresh fruit salad, muesli, cereals, fruit juice and lovely jams! You can help yourselves whilst your choice of breakfast is cooked fresh to order. The pool looked lovely but we didn't use it due to the weather. Hotel situated in a lovely quiet area only a short walk from the town centre and harbour.

What can we say - our second time at the Marstan, unfortunately only for three nights, and we will certainly be back!!!.
Both Ian and Craig go to great lengths to ensure you enjoy your stay although this time we were not treated to a piano recital (Craig please note for our next visit).
Breakfast is second to non cooked to order by Craig and presented by Ian on hot plates which makes a refreshing change. Not to forget to mention Sue following behind with the toast.
The rooms are spotless and serviced every day with lovely soft white towels.
We did not venture into the hot tub or swimming pool but certainly will on our next visit - weather permitting.
Ian / Craig you run a wonderful establishment not to be missed -- see you again soon
Steve and Roger

Room Tip: Room 6 - the four-poster is good as is room 4 the premium room - both overlooking the pool

Had a fabulous two day stay here at the Marstan. Craig and Ian go the extra mile to make sure their guests have everything they need. Lovely rooms, the whole house is decorated to a high standard and is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and a fantastic buffet to help yourself whilst you wait for your cooked breakfast, the home-made muesli was lovely. Our room was spacious with a large bathroom with double sinks, very tastefully decorated. The bed was huge and very comfortable, so comfortable in fact that my husband and I fell asleep for over two hours in the afternoon. We were woken by Craig gently knocking on our door to say our taxi had arrived!! ooops, hence we had to get ready extra quick to make our restaurant booking. Craig was fab and rearranged a later taxi for us whilst we enjoyed a drink with him in the bar. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Torquay.

We like to travel as much as we can and see new places, but since our first visit as a couple to Torquay in 2007 we make a point of staying at the Marstan, Ian and Craig are fantastic hosts and always make a point of making us feel comfortable, letting us know of any new restaurants that have opened up that they think we might like to try and ensuring that we have a lovely cup of tea on arrival.

We have always had a relaxing stay and the hot tub and well stocked bar plays a part in that as well as the very comfortable bed. This time when we arrived we discovered a bottle of bubbly and a hand written note wishing us a happy fifth wedding anniversary. It was a lovely gesture that we really appreciated.

As always the breakfasts were incredible and I particularly enjoyed the pancakes which were delicious.

If you are looking for a B&B where the hosts really care about their guests and will do their best to make your stay as comfortable and happy as possible and where you will want to keep going back then look no further than The Marstan.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the gardens and swimming pool, you won't be disappointed.
