Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Built in 1926 this fabulous, funicular railway has transported hundreds of thousands of people up and down the cliffs from Babbacombe to Oddicombe. Popular with holidaymakers and locals a trip to the English Riviera is not complete without a visit to this lovely railway. Down on Oddicombe Beach there is a gorgeous, hidden away beach with seasonal watersports and a great bar/bistro/café. Perfect family beach.

This is a cheap day out, about £6 for all of us, little one loved it. at the bottom there is a little beach and loads of great (easy) walks around. Babbacombe itself is quite smart.

This beautifully maintained cliff railway provides a fun and nostalgic way of reaching the beach. It is very reasonably priced, the staff were courteous, and it saved some very aching feet!

Definitely worth a go, especially if you walk down to the beach, getting the railway back up means that you avoid the steep walk back up the path. Very reasonably priced. The beach itself has gone massively downhill though! It needs a good revamp and a tidy up. I understand that nature has taken its toll and the storms have done some of the damage, but the buildings that were all boarded up just looked shabby. Part of the beach is currently closed off as there was a landslide. There is also scaffolding up in places. You currently cannot walk along to the other beach as the cliff path is closed off.
