We stayed at the inglewood hotel for 3 nights August bank holiday and we were absolutely disgusted. We re named the hotel fawlty towers.
We had asked fora ground floor room for my father and they gave us one on the second floor accessible by a lift but then he still had to go down 6 steep stairs.
On entering our room the first one smelt dirty and was filthy .The second was absolutley disgusting. The bathroom was filthy ,The plug in the bath was all rusty .The bath was held together with big clumps of sealant .All around the bath was mould and dirt .The tooth brush holder hadnt been cleaned for months .We had a vegetable rack in there for your toiletries. There were no toiletries provided..The toilet was old and dirty.see photographs.

The bed room had furniture in from the 60s.There was an old ancient radio on the wall that when you switched on gave you news from 1947.The wardrobes were dirty.see photographs

The bed cover on the bed was filthy .It smelt of sweaty bodies and obviously hadnt been changed in months may be years.

The mirrors were so dirty i wrote clean me in them to see if the cleaners did but gues what they were still left dirty.

There was cleaning cupboard outside our room which was always open.See photographs. The bedding etc was all stored in there jsut thrown in and the hoovers and chemicals were all on top of it .There was even chemicals in there in pop bottles with no labels on .If a child had been in that room heaven know what may have happened.

The food was ok but certainly not up to the standard as advertised. We ahd 5 courses in 25 minutes they never let u finish one course before they bought u another out .The food was only luke warm the majority of the time as it was all pr prepared and kept warm not fresh at all.
Breakfast was small ..no jam only marmalade.Toast always cold and coffee was very bitter.

The entertainment was not very good ..better at sister hotel the kistor.

The staff on reception were not very helpful even the manager jsut kept saying they were open 52 weeks a year when i complained and thats why its not up to standard,I would be ashamed to say that to my paying guests.
The hotel is very tired and needs a total refurbishement..It was probably lovely back in the 70s.

We have been going to torquay for 15 years and this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in .I will certainly never stay there again and wouldnt reccommned it to my worst enemy.I shall be writing to the tourist board etc to report it.

PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY .

This hotel is certainly for the over 80, the staff are of no help, dont think they really want to be there, the food is not good, if prawn cocktail is on the menue dont have it it will not have been kept in the fridge it was left on the top until dinner time, the rooms have not seen a duster or hoover in god knows how long, this hotel either needs not a 60 min make over but a 60 year makeover.
I wouldent recommend this to anyone, its dirty, dark and unfriendly.
My advise would be sleep on the beach because it would be cleaner and defo eat out.

Location: Fair, but outside appearance is not inviting. It looks better from the rear, but run down.
Room: Our room,no.30, was a disaster. Very small, bare, no character. Overlooked main entrance. En suite:Extremely cramped, designed for midgets, strong smell of sewage all 6 nights.
Inside area: A rabbit-warren of corridors, ups and downs, would not be accessible for some older folk.
Food: A different story! Wonderful food, great variety, excellent restaurant staff. 5 stars.
Entertainment: Quite good.

My mum visited this dive 14 yrs ago with my father just before he died and she wanted to re-visit it for sentimental reasons. That is the ONLY reason why we didn't turn around and book elsewhere as soon as we went in.
I dont even know where to start! the place is filthy - just move the bedside cabinet away from the wall, its crawling behind there. You never hear a vacum cleaner swithed on, the restaurant stinks so bad that the clothes in our wardrobe all had to be washed as soon as we got home. There are no phones in the bedrooms, no room service, curtains are disgusting its just the most awful place to stay.
We spoke to several people who would definitely not return - just like ourselves however, we are at a loss as to who could possibly find this place to be ok. We have travelled the world, but are not by any means comparing this to say the Four Seasons, we are aware that it isn't in that league, but please just clean the place!! Even when people check out their old room isn't cleaned, they just change the bed and towels etc, they dont turn a vacum on so the new guests are walking on the dead skin and whatever else left behind by the previous guests!!! Eww
There is a premier inn around the corner facing the sea with a fab estaurat and guaranteed cleanliness at a reasoable rate ..... please dont stay at the inglewood!!!

We were told when booking that the family room had a divider between the beds to separate the 2 children's bed to ours. When we got there all 4 beds were in a row. Shower didn't work. We asked for the cover to be removed from the outside pool so the children could go in it. They removed the cover but because the chemicals weren't right "due to the weather!!!" and you couldn't see the bottom we couldn't use it. Was told o go down to the sister hotel to use the inside pool. After complaining we were moved to the sister hotel Kistor hotel which was 100% better rooms, food and atmosphere were excellent and we had a lovely time.
