“First class accommodation in Torquay”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Quality throughout, everything that you see is presented immaculately and all very tastefully done wonderful welcome from David with a lovely pot of tea and biscuits on the sun terrace when we arrived. The bedroom was lovely with a sea view, and a very comfortable bed, a fridge with chilled water on arrival and fresh milk. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice off a menu all freshly cooked by Edna. Very quiet residential area approx 10 minute walk to the beach or relax in the lovely garden which has tables, chairs, sun loungers, and a hot tub between 12.30 and 18.30 I have stayed in many establishments throughout the UK but this is certainly one of the best value for money.
WE WILL BE BACK !!

Room Tip: Room 2 had a sea view and was a good size.

We arrived fairly late on Saturday evening for a two night stay. First impression was how clean, well decorated and spacious the guest house was.

We were met at the door by the proprieter, who kindly made me a pot of tea and a cafitierre of coffee for my partner.

We were showed our room which boasted a lovely four poster bed with white linen in a well proportioned room. Please don't do what we did and open the chocolate chip biscuits on the bed. One got eaten with a morning cuppa and one left in the packet on the bed which fell out as I dozed off again trapping it between my leg and the pristine duvet cover melting the chocolate onto the cover. It was chocolate honestly David.

The attention to detail was the key for me, white dressing gowns, a small fridge in the room with a jug of fresh milk, not the plastic cartons of UHF rubbish!

The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice including loads of fresh fruit.

Minuscule down side was the springs on the bed were a little squeaky........ahem.

We've just returned from another weekend at the Southbourne Villa. We arrived late due to dreadful weather conditions, but David and Edna gave us a lovely welcome and showed us to our room, which as expected was very nice. The room was clean and spotless the bed looked inviting.

The next morning after a good night’s sleep we choose our breakfast, Edna cooked it beautifully with Dave being a courteous host in the dining room. The day was spent exploring the beautiful and sunny Devon countryside. David is very knowledgeable and suggested places to eat and visit, even offering to book taxis to restaurants. We decided to walk the short distance to the harbour to eat.

The second night was as good as the first as was the breakfast. A very enjoyable weekend. We’ll be back!

Room Tip: Both rooms we have stayed in have been spotless, light and airy

We stayed here again after such a positive experience a year ago. Once again David and Edna went out of their way to make us feel at home, and their local knowledge, which they are delighted to share, makes a visit to this area such a pleasure. Impossible to fault the quality of the accommodation, nor the service.

Stayed here with my husband for 3 nights end of October. We stayed in the four poster room which was very nice and clean. Lots of hot water and the room was lovely and warm. Breakfast was amazing fresh fruit, good selection of cereals followed by a freshly cooked breakfast of your choice really does set you up for the day. Lovely quiet spot but not too far away from Torquay. There is a lovely pub called D&T about a 5min walk away from the villa, across the road there is a Indian restaurant to me a bit pricey but as it's the end of the season, restaurants are hard to find open after 10pm so its one close by.Bargain at £2 return from Torquay to Brixham had a lovely day there. Found a quant little town called Dartington few unusual shops worth a trip its just after Totnes. If you need any advice on places to go or eat then David is more than happy to help. We shall most definitely stay at southbourne villa again next time we visit Torquay. Lovely stay made to feel very welcome.
