Been to Torquay the last 2 years both times B&B , so we decided to for a hotel and The Grosvenor came out as good value.
Although on arrival we were over charged, but this was soon rectified when pointed out. We ate at The Inn which was excellent food, as it was a Monday night had the place to ourselves but Karen and her daughter were super helpfull. We planned to eat at restaurant the following night.... Even though i has told reception previous night, we werent expected. So we went down the the Harvester ( down by the quay) would recommend if you have kids.
Some of the rooms were being redocorated whilst we were there, yet the room we had was perfect ( very dated, but typical British Seaside Regal Decor) fantastic view of the sea and pool. ( which was filled whilst we were there, as the Sun had decided to come out for our whole visit)
If you are wanting the decor etc of a premier Inn , you may be a little put off staying here. But if you want to embrace a typical British Seaside Hotel, then The Grosvenor is highley recommended.
:-)

Room Tip: Ask for sea view....

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you were overcharged on arrival. I am glad that the team managed to rectify this for you. The team are working very hard to implement new systems and procedures to stop these things from occurring. The hotel is dated, and as you have said we are currently renovating the rooms to get them to a 3* standard by the end of the year. The sun has been out which has been great, so we have opened our outside pool, and pool bar. Let’s hope we stay this lucky and have a lovely summer. We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to The Grosvenor hotel in the future, so you can see all the renovations and changes we are making to the hotel.

Came for a short break, chose The Grosvenor because of the TV series, so didn't know what to expect. The hotel, service and food exceeded all expectations. The staff couldn't be more helpful, the food, particularly dinner, was excellent. The rooms had been redecorated but were still a little tired, however they were quite acceptable and obviously complete renovation is an ongoing and time consuming programme. The public areas are all clean and attractive. Location: short walk to sea, shops, theatre and ferry. Regular coastal buses on sea front again a short walk. Look forward to coming again to see ongoing improvements.

Thank you for your kind review. We employed Ricco Jenkins (head executive chef) back in January, and he has implemented beautiful menus, with a large range to cater everyone’s needs. As you have said we have a full renovation plan, which we are currently undergoing. The staff here are very helpful and try to make sure every guest gets what they need. It will be great for you to return to us in the near future to see all the changes we are currently making to the hotel.

This hotel is a little gem at Torquay, with absolutely spacious rooms and perfect location. The reception staff are very welcoming, so is the new manager of the hotel. Their new restaurant is just divine - we ate so much food that we were lucky our rooms were a short waddle away! The bar has live music playing almost every night, which was quite enjoyable. Our room also had a lovely private outdoor area attached. The beds are incredibly comfortable with a good night's sleep. Breakfast is substantial with a cold buffet (juices, cereals, breads, pastries) and a nice hot plate of eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, toast, tomato - whatever you like, The breakfast staff are also outstanding in every way. I will be returning again and again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private outdoor area, if one is available.

Thank you for you lovely review. Your right the hotel is a gem, and we are currently working hard to give it some TLC and restore it to its natural beauty. Our food standards have improved dramatically since we employed our head executive chef ( Ricco Jenkins). He has worked very hard to get the food to an excellent standard. I have truly amazing staff that take so much pride in their jobs, and ensure our customers are always welcomed and looked after from the minute they arrive to their depart. We look forward to welcoming you back. Thank you

A special mention has to go to the young slim girl with dark hair on reception what an asset to the Richardson hotels she is!! She's so friendly and talkative to guest. Nothing is too much trouble for her, is always making sure guests are happy!! Such a star!!! Also another one to mention is Karen!! She's was also very friendly with us, having a laugh and always making sure everything was okay!! These two are top employees!!! Will defiantly be returning to the grosvenor in the summer!! Thank you for a lovely stay!!

Thank you for your lovely review. We have a very close team here at The Grosvenor hotel. They are more like a family. Farrah, who you mention on reception, is an asset to the hotel. She is great with her customer care and I will be sure to show her your review. Karen also is one of my duty managers. She is brilliant with her guests and makes sure they leave happy and looked after. We are working very hard as a group to ensure our customer service is the best in the bay. Again thank you so much for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Grosvenor Hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel last week. The staff are excellent, they go out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are large and clean as are the bathrooms. There is a food available in the Inn (bistro), the main restaurant and at the bar. The food was of a good standard. Buses are very regular into Torquay and other seaside resorts, which was very handy. The decor is dated but the important stuff is all there and the decorators have started.

Thank you for your kind review. As you have said the decorators are in, we are working night and day to decorate the hotel. We have implemented new menus at the hotel since we took over in October. We have tried to make sure we cater for everyone’s needs in both restaurants and our bar. We are situated close to the town centre and we are right on the sea front. Buses do stop right outside the hotel which as you have said is very handy. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to see you again in the future.

My partner and I have just stayed seven nights at this hotel, and we have enjoyed a lovely holiday. We chose this hotel, like many others to see what it was like after watching the television series. From the time we arrived until our departure we experienced excellent service. Our room was lovely and clean with a large bathroom. The entertainment during the evenings was excellent, although sometimes it would have been nice to see a few more people, however it was early in the season. The location is great, within a few minutes walk to the sea front and a nice short walk to the town centre. We used the bus to local places, and a visit to Paignton Zoo is highly recommended. Although most of the staff have changed from watching the television series, it was still a good experience to see the inside of the hotel. During our stay, a room was being completely refurbished, and Im sure as time allows the Hotel will look splendid. We used the indoor pool and jacuzzi, which we found very relaxing. The food was excellent, enjoying breakfast and evening meal and as i am a vegetarian, i had a good choice on the menu. At this point, can i say a big thank you to Fabio, who looked after us at mealtimes and made our stay so memorable, you truly are a star!!! Just before our holiday finished, i visited the hair salon, and was very pleased with my new haircut! All in all, we had a lovely holiday, and would recommended this hotel to anyone visiting Torquay.
Sharon and Andrew.

Room Tip: Room 27 has a lovely large bathroom.

Thank you for your review. Fabio is new to the hotel so it is great to see that he has joined the team, giving a lovely customer service which we work hard to achieve. We are in a brilliant location as you have said; there are great facilities and attractions in Torquay. All our rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We are currently renovating the bedrooms to modernise the hotel. I am truly happy that you have enjoyed your holiday and look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Me and my partner went to the grosvenor for our anniversary and stayed two nights, I can honestly say I've never been in a hotel with such helpful and friendly staff.

Although it really wasn't the right season for us to go away, I can honestly say the entertainment on the Monday (g and t), the bar, the lovely restaurant (inn@grosvenor) and the attentive staff more than made up for it.

The only slight downfall was the dated decor, but from the decorators we saw now and then, it looks like it is being updated now.

The breakfasts in the morning were fresh and tasteful, the waiter even sorted out some vegetarian sausages for me, there's also plenty of cereal, juice and hot drinks for guests.

In all I would recommend this hotel to anyone, in fact I've already mentioned it to many of my friends and family. It's a short walk to the town, and had a beautiful view.

Me and my partner have been so won over that we wish to return in July.

Thank you very much to all the staff :)

Thank you for such a lovely review. As you have said we do have the decorators in the hotel at full force. We are quickly and efficiently trying to get the hotel back to its natural beauty. My team are truly amazing and hard workers. They are great with their customer care and service. We look forward to welcoming you back in July. Our outside pool and bar is now open so let’s hope the sunshine stays with us.
