Superbly presented and appointed hotel in prime seafront location. The rooms are very comfortable and spotlesly clean. The highlight for me was Dinner in the beautiful restaurant, complete with pianist which helped make for a most enjoyable atmosphere. The food was well presented and cooked in a traditional 'home cooking' style. the choice of desserts was colossal and so mouthwatering! The service throughout was superb from courteous and obviously well trained staff.

Breakfast was also very well presented with Full English cooked to order and arriving hot, so unlike many pre-cooked breakfasts in hotels these days.

Overall a highly recommended hotel which I have used for business in the past and am continuing to use without hesitation.

Room Tip: Upgrading to sea view and /or Superior recommende.

We held our old school reunion over the weekend. The hotel was comfortable with splendid views over Torbay. The food was excellent and the staff both curtious and helpful. There was plenty of car parking space.

We were given a warm welcome on arrival at this hotel. Efficient reception service and shown to our rooms. The bathroom suites were coloured which seemed a bit dated, however they were clean and the room was spacious.
The restaurant service was excellent as was the choice and quality of the food. Breakfast was cooked to order and the toast was not like the usual cold cardboard you get.
Best food I have had in a UK hotel.

Stayed at the Livermead House for three nights i honestly could not fault the stay staff very friendly and went out of thier way to help,I had a problem with the shower in the room but it was rectified straight away. We stayed in room no 50 it had a double aspect view which was fantastic there was quite a bit of road noise which could be expected as it is facing the main road between Torquay to Brixham perhaps if fitted with double glazing it would reduce a lot of the noise other than that a pleasure to stay here.

Room Tip: Ideal for walking into Torquay.

Having arrived at the Livermead at 6:45pm,and being a little tired after our 3 hour drive from the midlands,we were greeted by Hannah [receptionist] a lovely young lady who from the onset made us feel so welcome. We were stopping for 3 nights as it was our anniversary. We were stopping Dinner ,bed and breakfast,so just enough time to unpack and shower before dinner.{served 7-9 pm} We were shown to our room which was a lovely double sea facing room, which we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and the decor.{room 243} The better half was soon running the bath and as i finished unpacking she had made me a cup of tea and then she slipped into the bath which was red hot. {yes a hotel with hot running water and plenty of it} We went down for dinner at 8 and were met by the restaurant manager who showed us to our table, and again like Hannah made every effort to cater for our every whim.It was a 4 course dinner and i can honestly say that it was on par with any 5star restaurant that we have eaten in.{100% satisfied with the room the choice of food the staff and the service first class}Having finished our meal we went into the bar and lounge for a couple of drinks,to our surprise there was a singer on,all im going to say that we left the bar at 12:30 a little worse for wear, but had met some good people and had had a jolly good sing-a-long. After a good nights sleep we were up at 9 for breakfast and again we were treated to a fantastic meal. {it was that filling we did not eat again until dinner} Having spent the day in Dartmouth we got back to the hotel at 6pm and decided to go in the hot tub and outside pool ,how refreshing that was just before our dinner. We had 2 more nights at the Livermead and it was truly exceptional, nothing is to much trouble for any of the staff there. Finally iv got to mention Tim the hotel manager, the coq in the gearbox, all i can say is that the man knows how to look after people and knows exactly what he wants,so thankyou Tim and thanks to all of your staff.{and the soup that you gave us to go home with was delicious} We come to Torquay between 4 and 6 times a year, and if this is the service we can expect we will be back very soon. The most unprofessional management ever experienced. The manager (Mr Rew) can be heard shouting abuse at his staff who, despite this, are the only thing the hotel has going for it. I would not wish to give this company any further service.

I was the organiser of a small private dinner, with a group of people travelling from all over the UK and most booking a room for one or two nights stay.

When asking around for places to book for this event, the Livermead was at the top of a list of three or four venues recommended by a trusted friend, and on meeting their General Manager, I could not fail to see why.

From his initial introduction to us, resplendent in tails and carnation, it was obvious that this was one of the few hotels where the staff take their service and responsibilities to guests seriously. Both leading up to the event and during the dinner, Mr Rew and his assistant manager Phil were at all times courteous and helpful, and staff at all levels were exceptionally competent and eager to assist.

Although I did not stay overnight, I had seen the rooms at the Livermead before and after their recent overhaul, and without exception my guests commented on the level of comfort, cleanliness and especially the quality of the food. Congratulations must go to the excellent Chef, and waiting staff.

Well and worthily recommended, tried and approved of!
