“Dated but memorable”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

Like stepping back in time with dated decor and old fashioned blankets and pillows. But the service and quality of the food more than makes up for the short comings. Choose your room carefully because there are wide variations. Pay the extra for a superior room if possible.

We enjoyed a dance weekend break here, and have to say that the room was very good. The dance floor is excellent too, and the ballroom dancing was very good for this weekend booking. The restaurant choice and quality was really enjoyable A 4 poster extra large bed in a quite spacious bedroom, and good size bathroom with shower and spa bath (didn't use it) made a great room. Enough storage and door to balcony - the door was of benefit as it's really quite warm in the room without radiators being used. Didn't like the cooing pigeons but as it's winter they were few.
I suppose the hotel is a little old fashioned in its manner and decor, but that means you get good service from all the staff. They were really good in very department.
There was ballroom dancing on Thursday by a different organiser, which was OK, but quite a bit of sequence dancing.

Room Tip: Room 6 if you want sea view and huge bed (at extra £), with good bathroom where everything worked pr...

Having taken several short breaks in Torquay this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in for the friendliness of the staff the excelent service in the restruant and the quality and choice of food on offer. A real plus point is the size of the car park at to many hotels having found a parking spot you were afrraid to use your car whilst there in case you couldn.t park on your return. We had a room overlooking the sea which regretably also overlooked a very busy and noisy road. Whilst the bedroom was clean and functanal it needed a major refurbishment. The one piece of advice I would give to the hotel is build a smokers cabin as when it was raining smokers gathered under the canopy at the entrance which wasn't very nice for arrivees to walk through clouds of cigarette smoke to gain entrance to the hotel

Room Tip: Avoid a sea view if you can't stand the noice of traffic

This is a bit of an Olde World Hotel, deep carpets and staff dress in formal uniform. We had an economy room big mistake, TV didn't work even though the Barman came and tried to fix it. The bathroom was cold and we found a few cobwebs in the room. Parking was great, the views outstanding breakfast was excellent. Would stay again but pay the extra for a seaview.

Room Tip: Seaview but it is expensive.

First visit to this hotel although have spent many weekends in Torquay.
Good location giving you a chance to have a good walk into Torquay or a Bus to many other places and a short walk to Cockington.
Nice room although next time I may pay extra for a sea view.
Dinner in the hotel on first night was excellent with good service.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view.

Friends invited me to join them for Sunday lunch. There was little I could say being a guest. But they love Silver Service. However when the vegetables came there were just peas, carrots & cabbage the helpings were very small. This would not encourage me to go again. After the meal we moved to the lounge for coffee which was not very comfortable

We recently celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary with a party at the Livermead House Hotel. The Party was excellent with lovely food and staff who were very polite and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. We also booked several rooms for family and friends who travelled from different parts of the country, they all said how pleased they where with the rooms they had. All in all we could not fault the weekend.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the sea.
