A fantastic venue for a wedding.Torquay is a beautiful place to visit there are lovely beaches just over the road from the hotel and it is on the edge of cockington; a very beautiful small village with many walks. The hotel is great, and I would recommend you visit!!!!

The situation of this hotel takes a lot of beating - whilst it is not exactly town centre it enjoys the greater tranquility of being very conveniently placed on the periphery.Town access is very easy and can take only a few minutes . I would recommend taking a leisurely walk along the promenade or using public transport. The views from the hotel are spectacular as it looks out south into Torbay. The hotel offers a very warm friendly welcome and in our experience the staff were always pleased to be of service. The individual rooms are well provided with all that a visitor might require and some have quite outstanding views into the bay. The dining facilities are superb with an excellent and varied menu. The food is well prepared , quite delicious and served most efficiently by the staff. In addition the atmosphere is calm and relaxed as one listens to the live piano music in the background. I recommend The Livermead House Hotel to all persons seeking excellent value for money in a hotel that prides itself on great service

My wife and I chose this hotel as a last minute weekend break,(chosen 2 days prior to visit.)
We arrived early, but room was soon made available, and we were given a seaviw room on second floor, excelent views, very clean, well decorated and comfortable.( a little traffic noise due to hotel front location, (double glaze windows ?).
Although an older hotel the overall decor was excellent, and restaurant area was beautifully decorated.
The food, both evening meal and breakfast was excellent and served by a team of very efficient staff,in fact all staff from cleaners upwards were all very friendly and hepful.
Loads of free safe parking.
Having stayed in various hotels in Torquay, I rate this hotel on a par with some of a higher star rating, with good all round service and value . Will definitly return.

We stayed at this hotel in April 2008 and were impressed with the food although the bedrooms were rather "tired". Having moved to the area we dined at the sister hotel Corbyn Head on a special occasion with a number of friends and family. The food and service was very good but the restuarant was almost empty as it was early February 2009.
We decided to dine at this hotel as non-residents and the gentleman who took our booking was charming so we thought that we would have a very special evening. When we arrived in the restuarant we were shown to our table with no mention about our coats so we had to roll them up and put them under the table. Our order was taken promptly and we asked for two glasses of wine. We were told that the wine waiter would come to our table but this only happened after we had finished our main courses. The contents of the sweet trolly could have been purchased from a local supermarket.
The staff were totally untrained and nobody asked us if everything was OK or if we enjoyed our meal. When we asked for our bill we were told to pay at the reception. The receptionist commented on the fact that we had no drinks and when we explained she laughed. We sent an E-Mail to the hotel the following day but of course this has been ignored which appears to be the management's policy. We will certainly not have any more expensive meals in the Rew hotels!

I found the conduct of most of the staff to be rather cold and blunt. Not a warm welcome, no porter available to help with luggage, lack of detail and proper direction when asked where could I find the sauna room. I do not like being served cold coffee and I should not have to explain to a porter in the absence of suitable member of bar staff how to pour a Baileys...!!! Tray left on the 1st floor in the corridor with dried up food on it which had been sitting there overnight..!! The manager did not take to kindly to my letter of complaint as was happy to argue and raise his voice to me over the phone, a call which I made to him as he failed to return mine from the night before. I wish to add that Carol on reception was superb, extremely informative, efficient and pleasant throughout the stay. Well done Carol.

Having just spent two nights at the Livermead House Hotel I offer you the following comments. Excellent parking facilities. Front of house very good, all staff were extremely polite and attentive. First-class food delivered with first-class service although the head waiters did seem to chase them up un-necessarily. The bar is somewhat expensive at £3.30 for a pint of bitter and £2.50 for a coffee or tea. The biggest disappointment were the bedrooms although I have to admit to only seeing two (7 & 12); both Sea View rooms. They were small, dated and very, very tired. The double bed in 7 is only a 4 foot bed, good job really as nothing bigger would have fitted. The TV in 12 didn’t work and didn’t get fixed despite my reporting the fact to reception. I suspect new batteries for the remote would’ve cured the problem. If the Rew’s could just address the problems upstairs I think the high majority of the comments on this site would be very favourable; but to the staff – a very WELL DONE.
