“A Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2010

Few hotels get the number of consistently good reviews that the Somerville does. Our stay for four nights in a deluxe room was just as we had hoped for from reading all the other reviews. Our room was clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated with a lovely ensuite. The bed was king size, pocket sprung and very comfortable. The room was a little small with very few areas to place things not stored in the one wardrobe or chest of drawers but this is a small point. Worktop space was also at a premium so do not over pack. Breakfast was a real pleasure and a great way to start the day. Good food, well presented and served with a smile. The hotel is run by two perfect hosts who seem to go out of their way to give a friendly welcome and ensure guests enjoy their stay. We would stay again if in the area and would recommend the hotel to our friends and family.

We visit Torquay at least twice a year and always stay at the Somerville. It is a place of great character which is lost in some of the larger hotel chains. The staff are always very helpful and the rooms are of a very high standard. The location is perfect - just a leisurely five minute stroll into the town centre. Mark, Nicola & Charlotte

We arrived early and when I asked if it would be ok to leave the car in their car park we were welcomed in and invited to check in early. Nothing appears to be too much trouble. The room was a curious mix of period furnishing, with modern en-suite. Excellent room information includes very useful restaurant reviews on where to eat locally and the breakfast could not be faulted for range of foods and attention to detail. Our first visit to South Devon, but no doubt where we will stay if we visit again.

We enjoyed our six day stay mainly due to the clenliness comfort and helpfullness of the staff ,we had a suite with access to the upper level garden. The breakfast was a good selection of fruit nuts cereal youghart with a full english to follow.Parking around torquay is difficult and the hills can be a struggle for the elderly, overall well worth the effort of travelling from scotland.

This is a lovely place, very clean with a great attention to detail. Adam couldn't have been nicer and gave us great tips for dinner (thanks Sharon!) and we had a great first night to our honeymoon - hence the rating for sleep quality! I liked the decor, where it is a bit more is more, but if you are in the mood for a fun place that is really well run by nice people (excellent breakfast by the way) and has two cute dogs as well, then go here. We'll be back next time we are in that part of the world without doubt.

We really enjoyed our short break here. The room was lovely; breakfasts were excellent - and the dogs a pure joy.... you'll have to visit to find out what we mean! Thanks for making the break so wonderful.

My husband booked this hotel as a treat and what a treat. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and given useful information :eg where we could eat , boat trips and places to visit. We parked the car for 2 days and was able to walk easily into the town. We will be back later in the year. Thank you for a lovely stay.
