“A very goo place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

This place is a good place to stay in Torquay. However this place just lacks a bit of TLC which could have made it a Great BnB.

Good Points:
- Searoom deluxe view very spacious.
- Nicely cooked English breakfast at the pub downstairs
- Good wifi connection
- Nice and well maintained reception area
- Excellent shower in the room
- Swimming pool
- Free parking
- Location is great. Ideal for walking to the harbour.
- Restaraunts close by also close to a McCools
- Bus Stop for Babacoombe outside the hotel
- Hair Dryer provided in the room
- Management and staff friendly. Jacki allowed our toddler son to stay with us in a deluxe. Steve waivered the breakfast bill for our son.

Bad Points:
- There was a big carpet left in the back lawn which wasnt nice to look out throught the window.
- The chairs in the swimming poor were quite dirty
- The info book in the room was not in a good condition
- Water has to be requested for at breakfast

Great hotel with a characteristic bar "The Griffin" that sets it aside from the stereotypical anemic hotels elsewhere.
Be sure to have a night in, on a Friday or Saturday, and bang a few drinks down with The Major or Chop who form part if the furniture, you might learn a thing or two.

Rooms are comfy
Good value for money
Breakfast wonderful

Booked due to taking the dog. Room 3 was superb. Big, very clean, modern and a wonderful en-suite. You eat downstairs in the hotel pub. Public can use the pub, which is large and basic with a couple of TV screens. There is a small garden and a medium sized pool at the rear of the building. The breakfast food is fine and quickly served. There is plenty of parking. The side road is shared with the rear of other hotels. Rooms are locked with a card system. About a 5 minute walk from the harbour, but it's downhill there and up hill back.

Room Tip: Room 3 is large and modern.

After an extended stay (6 weeks) we found everything to our complete satisfaction. The room was a good size and we had a lovely sea view. The room and the hotel was clean and tidy even though there was some refurbishment taking place; as work did not start until after breakfast and finished around 4pm, this was not a problem for us. Jackie, Steve and family were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel. The Griffin bar below the hotel was good fun and we had some great times especially Sunday afternoons with the Jam session.

We stayed at this hotel last week on a KGB deal. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The wifi system was one of the best we have encountered at an hotel. The food was good and the room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel was located close to the town centre so that you were able to walk in quite easily. Free parking was an added bonus.

Thank you for placing a review, we have been running the hotel now for three years and over that time put monies aside to carry out repairs and upgrading programme, to completely renovate the hotel would cost hundreds of thousands of pounds of which we do not have, so constructively with what profits we get we plough that back in and that’s your “work in progress” that you see happening. Sorry to hear of your issues with the booking agent and yes please ring the hotel to book.
Thanks for mentioning the wi-fi, breakfast, value for money and location. It does what it says !! Thank you.
Steve & Jackie
