“A little bit of heaven in Torquay”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We have just come back from one of the most relaxing and lovely short breaks we have had. A chance find on the internet resulted in us having the most chilling time in the most spectacular surroundings. From the stylish but very homely house itself to the most stunning gardens in which it so beautifully sits. Then there at its centre a tropical oasis of palm trees and beautiful plants and shrubs surround a glorious swimming pool.

Linda and Paul who own and run this gem are wonderful hosts who helped to make our stay unforgettable, thank you both.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Caribbean Sea room which had a shared balcony overlooking the pool and fabulous gar...

Wonderful place with attentive hosts that provide gracious and competent service as well as friendly and well informed tips. You can't go wrong if you follow their advice on driving eating and site seeing.

Room Tip: We had 3 out of 10 and all were impeccable.

We have just returned from a very nice three night break at Cary Court, and can confirm that everyone else's glowing reviews are spot on. From the moment we arrived we were treated like old friends, even though this was our first visit. Paul and Linda go out of their way to make sure that you have the best experience possible, with great humour as well. Cary Court is a large plantation-style former residence of the great and good of Torquay (Brunel & Disraeli had homes around the corner) and it's now a very comfortable hotel set in tropical gardens, with a lovely pool to boot. We spent hours lounging by the pool in the sunshine, taking dips in the crystal clear water, and generally relaxing. One of the most extraordinary things about Cary Court is just how close you are to the centre of town - literally a five to ten minute walk - yet you feel utterly secluded. It is very quiet, and believe it or not you feel as if you're somewhere in the Carribean if you're lucky enough to have a hot day by the pool. The bring-your-own-alcohol set up works very well; there is a bar area where you can chill your drinks and an ice machine, all very laid back. Our room was the Carribean Sea at the front which was adjacent to a balcony which overlooked the pool, very nice. The room was spotlessly clean and and a good size, with a fairly large shower. Breakfast was very nice indeed, with all the usual choices beautifully cooked and presented. Paul was able to recommend some great restaurants a short walk away, we loved Ephesus (Greek) and Bianco's (Italian). One thing to bear in mind is although the town is a short walk away, it is a very steep one. However we found that taxi's were cheap and frequent so if in doubt it really is no big deal to get one there and/or back. All in all a really nice place to visit, we'll be back.

We have never before stayed in such a superb bed and breakfast, and to mention all that was good would take too long! Suffice to say that every aspect of our 2 night stay was total perfection. Paul and Linda bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed for our comfort. It is an oasis apart, and you can even forget the awful traffic of SouthDevon! Thank you so much for your great hospitality, and of course the plants. Lol

Room Tip: Loved our corner suite.

The title says it all.The six days we spent there were perfect, great hosts, clean, lovely room with our own lounge and beautifully cooked breakfast and of course can't forget the waiter Paul. The garden with pool and tropical trees were just beautiful. This was more than a home away from home. We will certainly recommend this hotel to friends and family. The only downfall for us was we didn't have a car and it's downhill to the front which is a quick and easy walk, but coming back we had to catch a cab. But this wouldn't stop us staying there again.

We stayed here for a long weekend in June. The hotel is in a great spot - walking distance from town, and on a quiet street. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, I can recommend the smoked salmon bagel! The house itself is well presented and clean. The garden room is a nice place to relax and the pool was most welcome with the hot weather! We made use of the 'bring your own' bar which is a nice touch and there is a wonderful tropical garden to enjoy an evening drink when the weather is good!
Paul and Linda were able to give us lots of ideas about what to do and see while we were there and arranged a table at 7, the fish restaurant in town which we can recommend.
We hope to go back soon!

We were made very welcome and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Facilities were excellent. Our hosts were very knowledgeable of the area and helped us get the most from our holiday. Take your swimming costumes with you and enjoy a relaxing dip in the pool.
