“Excellent all-round package”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2014 via mobile

We have twice stayed here on a 'package' break, B+B with evening meals, and found it all-round excellent both times. Amazing value for money, excellent food with good choice. Friendly and efficient staff. Our room was classed as 'cosy' but not too small. Excellent live entertainment in the evenings with a good atmosphere created between guests, several of whom seemed to know one another. Wifi coverage did not reach our room (either time), which is about the only minor criticism I could make. Recommended.

We found the hotel through a websearch and phoned to find out more details. Alex was very friendly and helpful and we booked a weekend break. Upon arrival we were made very welcome and enjoyed the complimentary cream tea in the garden with views of the sea. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable (something that is so important and easily overlooked elsewhere). There was plenty of storage space and we soon felt settled in. Meals were excellent with a good menu and service was especially efficient and attentive. Our waitress Sophie was friendly and looked after us very well. An easy 5 min stroll down to Meadfoot Beach from the hotel made for a pleasant evening walk after eating. You can walk to the centre of Torquay in only 15 mins so hotel location suited us nicely - the car stayed parked over the road free of charge all weekend (the hotel's car park was full). We recommend this hotel and hope to visit again soon. the weekend break offer (including Sunday lunch) was very good value.

Having surfed the local surrounding area of Torquay for an appropriate hotel I came across the Balmoral . The price for a weekend break looked too good to be true, this included bed and breakfast and a five course evening meal with cream tea on arrival. We opted for the cosy room offer, which by the name I was expecting a room the size of a broom cupboard, but was more than delighted to find it not so, the room was more than adequate, no view but did I really care "NO" The food was superb with plenty of choice well presented and hot although having ordered a curry finding it then came with roast potato's and vegetables did seem a bit weird. Must be a Torquay thing !!! . The hotel and grounds are great, work to upgrade areas are on going which you can understand takes time " just ignore the ceiling in the bar ". On the whole the place and location is great, the staff were brilliant, full marks "keep it up" will definitely be back.

This is our third visit to the Balmoral and again was not disapointed. Wonderful location, staff professional but very friendly, hotel fresh, comfortable and very clean plus
the food is exceptionaly good.
We booked as a party of eight and stayed four night's through the weekend, had a great time and enjoyed the entertainment on Friday and Saturaday night's.
Would recommend The Balmoral and definitely would return for a fourth break.

We have been back a week from a weekend special rate break at the Balmoral. We were a party of eight returning for a second time,we have such a fabulous weekend.Alex always gives us a warm welcome and all the staff are so friendly.Even the cleaning ladies have a chat with you.the chef and back room staff do a wonderful jobWe call it Man verses food weekend. The two nights entertainment are great making all the guests feel like one big happy family.Steve Parr one of the entertainers ,who we have seen twice now is great at his job. The hotel is very clean, warm and appealing, we have told so many people about the place.10 out of 10 Balmoral.

Room Tip: Front rooms are good with a view over the gardens.

My wife and I together with five family friends stayed two nights at the Balmoral. The hotel [like many] do special offers and it was one of these packages we bought.
Our room [7] was fine although I little on the small side and the bathroom had a shower and I do like a bath!
The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a log. Our view was good..looking out at the sea over attractive gardens.
The food was excellent. I like my food ,am not easy to please so this is high praise indeed!
I had beef has main course [evening meal] and lamb the next night and the meat was lean and very tender.
There was a large range on the breakfast menu and the meats [sausage, bacon and black pudding were very tasty]
The entertainment was fine on both evenings and the drinks were reasonably priced.
The staff were freindly, polite and helpful.
For value for money, good food and location I cannot fault the Balmoral and would certainly go again

Room Tip: I understand larger rooms than ours are available so next time I would go for a corner suite

Food was amazing, too much for me but I enjoyed everything I managed to fit in! Room temperature was ideal and the hotel was situated in a lovely location.

Can not praise the staff enough, from the Manager to the cleaners everyone was really friendly and helpful.

Will definitely be back, thank you.
