We had a voucher from buy a gift and chose this hotel from the list. It's in a nice location with a short walk to the beach and a nice cliff walk for the fitter amongst to you to Torquay. Food was really good and plentiful. Rooms are typical seaside guest house type and are definitely designed for the clientele that frequent the hotel. My husband was disappointed that not all the TV channels work (bbc mainly as the footy was on) and this was down to the weather we were told but didn't change for the whole stay come rain or shine) only moan was we paid for an upgraded room with a view but didn't get one and were overlooking the car park which was disappointing (We did get a free coffee and some cheese and biscuits with our dinner as way of compensation for this.) I would recommend this hotel for the over 60's as most customers were this age and we felt a little too young for this hotel.

We booked this hotel for a much needed 4 night break away and we absolutely loved it!
We had joked that as this in in Torquay and so reasonable it might be like "Fawlty Towers". How wrong we were. We opted for a smaller cheaper room as we wanted a view of some description which it delivered. The actual rooms need to be updated especially the bathroom which had a chipped, badly stained toilet seat, but the shower was adequate and the hotel surpassed itself in other ways which more than made up for this. A lovely garden to sit in, a large comfortable lounge, a lovely restaurant with matching table linen every day, a quiet location with easy walking distance into the town or the local bus stops right outside every hour. The menu and quality of the food was WOW, a brilliant chef cooks 5 course meals every evening and a great variety of cooked breakfasts. Our waiter Craig, was a pure delight, giving exceptional service and always had a welcoming smile and willing to help with any request. Perfectly natural but always professional. It rained every single day of our break but we explored the coastline regardless of this and still had a lovely relaxing stay. We shall definitely go back to this hotel and hope next time the weather permits us to lounge in the garden.

This is a lovely English seaside hotel in a quiet part of Torquay.
For us, the only thing that stopped us giving the hotel 5 stars was the tired hotel room. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and perfectly functional, but could both do with a face lift, and dragging into the 21st centaury. The floorboards also creaked with every step around the room.
Having said that, the public areas were lovely with a large lounge that opens out onto a decent sized garden with tables and chairs. A separate cosy and well stocked bar, and a good sized restaurant. The food for both dinner and breakfast was very good, and you couldn't fault the very attentive staff. The kept a low profile, but were there the moment you needed something.
There was also live entertainment for the two evening we were there. Not our thing, but popular with many of the guests.
All in all, a lovely friendly hotel.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a sea view, but all were quiet as far as we could tell

Just got back after a stay at the Balmoral Hotel, Torqouay, what a break, the staff are superb, so accomatating, for Alex the manager nothing is to much trouble, tasks are performed with smiles and politeness, Steve and Stella the owners make sure you have everything you require, as did Sean the head chef who saw to your dietary needs. The food both at breakfast and dinner are mouthwatering with plenty of choice and combinations, and served graciously with care by the waiting staff. Our room was great, with all mod cons.Want a break, don't hesitate, it's the Balmoral Hotel for you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great,I believe 3,4,5,are rooms with sea views.
