We have just returned from our third stay at the Sandpiper and cannot recommend it strongly enough. It may be a cliché to say, "a warm welcome awaits you...etc" but Helen and Russel are genuinely warm, charming people who run this great little guesthouse. The rooms are comfortable and modern and as it is located in a quiet cul-de-sac you are guaranteed a good nights sleep. The food is excellent, with a large breakfast choice and delicious evenig meals. If you are wise you will eat here rather than going to a town restaurant and waiting ages to be seated and served and surrounded by noise! (Took us two years to figure that out so here's a heads up) It has ample parking and it is only a 5 minute drive to the town center, ( 3 if all the lights are green.) It is very hit and miss when booking guesthouses/hotels, the Sandpiper is a definite hit, so, why go anywhere else?

Wonderful stay in first class accommodation! We felt very at home and Helen and Russ with their genuine hospitality made our stay most enjoyable.

The rooms are cosy and immaculately presented. The delicious, hearty full English breakfast set us up for the day! Nothing was too much trouble and little personal touches - a Birthday Card and Easter egg surprise for our Daughter made all the difference. The communal lounge is very comfortable and has a large TV should you be dissatisfied with the size of the one in your room and you really can't manage without your weekly soap opera fix!

The Guest house has ample parking space and is located a short walk from the sea front and local restaurants should you decide to dine out in the evening. Torquay has ample things to do and sea (sorry - see), great beach and shopping, but it also provides a great base should you decide to venture further afield for the day.

We shall return!

Room one (as previously said) rather cramped, but wonderfully clean. We only needed a bed to sleep (plus en-suite facilities), so not unduly bothered.
Superb breakfast fare choice.
Hosts extremely obliging in catering for our requirements - thank you.
All public areas superbly clean (especially shower & toilet).
Very comfortable bed.
TV slightly small (only niggle)

We chose this bed and breakfast because of the good reviews but while it is extremely good value we had some minor reservations.
Our room, number one,was a bit small so that we didn't really know where to put the single chair! While the bathroom was small, it had a large shower enclosure and good and steady hot water temperature. The whole room was very clean and in perfect order. Unfortunately, the plumber had been called out and our first night in January, was chilly in our room. When we pointed this out on the second evening that our radiator was barely lukewarm, we were told that it was not surprising that our previous night had been cold because the plumbing needed to be fixed . However it was only then, we were given an electric heater, without fuss.
We have a dog and we mentioned this on arrival and were told that dogs were £5 extra per night, which surprised us.
As our dog is used to sleeping in our car, there she remained!
The breakfast was good and quickly served.
Excellent value at £104 to 3 nights for two persons, clean and in perfect order, with free parking.

Room Tip: Number I, small but new and clean, but neighbours could be heard next door through the walls!
