“A Very Enjoyable Stay”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We stayed for 3 nights and found the Iona perfect for our requirements. We had the small double room (Room 4) as I left my booking late and it was a very busy period, but it was fine for what we needed. The hotel is very clean and the location is pretty good - just a gentle 15 minute stroll down to the waterfront via either 'The Avenue' which takes you past Torre Abbey or Belgrave Road. Staff were very cheery and helpful and they serve a lovely breakfast with lots of choices. Free wi-fi in rooms which worked very well. Would have no problem in recommending this to anybody and would book again next time in Torquay.

Room Tip: Very nice little pub just 2 minutes walk onto Belgrave Road, next to little off licence / shop. Frie...

20 minute walk from the beach in a quiet road.
Our room had a balcony in the sun at the front of the house.
Bed good, room good size with seating area and closet, ironing board, tea making facilities and fridge. Bathroom adequate size and clean on arrival.
Staff very friendly and helpful Breakfast staff very polite and correct, food beter than good.
I Would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: room with balcony

Really enjoyed my stay. Friendly staff, really helpful. Hotel was spotless and well presented. I would recommend to anyone requiring a hotel near the town centre but in a nice peaceful area.
I would definitely book again.

My wife and i stayed at the Iona for 2 nights 26/07/14 until 28/07/14 and could not fault the staff in anyway at all. My wife is disabled so stairs were a problem particularly the steps leading into the breakfast area so the staff set us up a table in the bar area which was a very nice thing for them to do for us.The room was big enough for the 2 of us and the bathroom was very clean indeed, The bed was a little bit to hard for us but it would be impossible to find a bed that would suit everyone lets be honest . I would certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends so thankyou to Roy and his lovely wife and family for looking after us both .

Room Tip: To be honest i would need to see all the rooms to be able to give a tip !!. My wife and i stayed in...

Your bb didn't feel like a place of business, it felt as if we were staying with good friends who have
welcomed us into their home. A very warm and inviting atmosphere even the other guests that were there added to the pleasantness. The Iona is the place to stay when you go to Torquay.
Thank you

Having just stayed for one night at the hotel Iona in Torquay ( Saturday 12th July ) I wanted to say how we very much enjoyed our experience there.
On arrival we were checked in by Roy and shown to our room ( No 1 ) on the second floor. The room was a double kingsize room. It was very clean, light and welcoming with plenty of light from two almost room height windows, one in the bedroom and one in the en-suite.
The windows look out over the front grounds and car park. No sea views but we did`nt expect any being where the hotel was situated.
First impressions on arrival were very good with plenty of private off road parking in the hotel car park. My advice is to try and check in early (by 2pm) to ensure a good space as some close to the hotel reception do look quite tight !.
The reception area is very clean and welcoming, walking through to a small bar area. A bell can be found here for assistance from the owners anytime.
Shower was fantastic with plenty of power and hot water. The room also came with a flat screen wall mounted tv, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, ironing board, iron, fan, fridge, hairdryer !
Very nicely furnished and had a very good nights slept in the super comfy bed.
No problems with late night crowds from the town centre or traffic noise as the hotel Iona is on a very quiet road.
Walking time to main town centre ( Fleet Walk ) aprox 20-25 minutes, a very nice walk to town without any hills.
The breakfast is served between 0830-0930 in a very nice conservatory area with modern tables and chairs. Nice touch that you can sit and any table rather than sit at one with your room number ( as with most hotels ).
You help yourself to a good choice of orange/apple juice, cereals, mini croissants, grapefruit, fruits and much more !.
Then at the your table your order is taken for tea/coffee and a nice selection of full English, poached eggs, kippers, omelette, and more but cannot remember !
Followed by toast. We both enjoyed our breakfast. I must say that the full English was very good !.
Overall with the way in which we were met, and our experience of staying at the hotel Iona we would thoroughly recommend staying there.
Just want to finally say a big thank you to Roy & Marita , oh and your wonderful little dog Chip!
