We had a brilliant stay at Ian and Maries . The room was lovely and well furnished ,the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, a good variety including plenty of toast and coffee. The hotel is located very close to the seafront and other amenities. The hotel is very clean and nicely presented.Ian and Marie are very friendly and welcoming the most excellent of hosts. We have been returning again and again over several years now and will continue to do so for the forseeable future!

I have just returned from my third stay at The Southbank, Torquay. This time I was on business, and on my own. I therefore had a single room, which was wonderfully decorated, spacious and comfortable. Ian and Marie were again, perfect hosts. Since I needed to start early, Ian got up extra early to provide a full breakfast 30 minutes before the usual breakfast hours (thanks again Ian!!). My family love this Torquay, and have had many holidays recently. In the past, we would just book anywhere that was convenient. But now we only book and stay at 'The Southbank'!
It is convenient for everywhere .. The beach, the town, the riviera centre. In addition there are two swimming pools within 3 minutes walk, which can be easily accessed. The hotel is on the main road into Torquay, so no hunting around for it. It has good parking facilities (rare for these hotels), and once you are there and parked, you don't need to use your car again .. Everything is close by.

Room Tip: Room 2 - ground floor, but off the main hallway, quiet, and beautifully appointed (although that can...

Stayed 4 nights at the Southbank Hotel in Torquay during a solo trip in the southwest UK. The location allowed quick walking access to the Town Center in one direction and the Princess Pier/waterfront areas in the other direction. Short distance from Torquay train station, although I'd suggest a taxi on arrival, as it's an uphill trek. Proprietors were very friendly and helpful. Single, en-suite room was absolutely lovely with a larger than normal bathroom (including a window). Wi-fi was very spotty in my room with serious connectivity issues throughout my stay. Hotel serves evening meals from 6 to 8 pm, although I tried their pizza and found it not to my liking. Preferred to eat elsewhere the rest of the trip. I did not try breakfast, as I preferred to sleep in late during my stay. Overall, a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms.
