“The best B&B in Torquay”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

We stayed at the Elmdene for 4 nights in September after reading the reviews for the hotel on Trip Advisor and found that it fully deserved the excellent reviews. Carol and Andy were very welcoming and went out of their to make our stay an enjoyable one from the outset. The standard of accomadation and range of breakfast choices were outstanding and well cooked. Our room was beautiful with some lovely added touches. There were plenty of parking spaces and the hotel is well positioned for access to Torquay and the railway station etc. Torre Abbey, in close vicinity to the Elmdene, was unfortunately closed for renovation during our stay...so this offers a good reason for a return visit!

Room Tip: Room 1 brilliant

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Elmdene during the second week of September. We had a great service even before we arrived in that a request made to Carrol was sorted out prior to our arrival. Andy & Carol were very welcoming and did everything possible to make our stay an enjoyable one. They also provided a lot of useful information, places to visit, etc. The room was spotless and the bed/duvet/pillows etc, were very comfortable to ensure a good nights sleep. Breakfast was provided in a lovely Victorian room and was of a high standard. There was plenty of variety for everyone and the food was enjoyable. Would definitely stay at The Elmdene in the future.

We stayed at the Elmdene for a week at the beginning of September. We stayed in room 2 which had the added bonus of an adjoining lounge with a sofa and a second TV. The rooms and en-suite were spotless and the breakfasts were excellent and always freshly cooked. The hotel is well placed for the train station and bus stops and is a pleasant walk to the sea front. Andy and Carol are brilliant hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. They have an excellent knowledge of Torquay and the surrounding area. We will definitely stay there again and recommend the Elmdene to friends and family.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 which had an adjoining lounge with sofa and second TV and mini fridge and found...

This is a treasure. Andy & Carol certainly know how to make you feel welcome. The bedroom was beautiful, newly decorated and furnished, everything you could possibly require for a holiday was in that room - including fudge yum. Very well placed for the seafront and torquay centre. Rail station and bus stops all close by. Andy is a font of local knowledge - pity about the singing! The breakfasts are fantastic - all good quality food. We will certainly be returning.

My husband and i stayed for 4 days in Room 4. It was lovely and bright and a great size. The owners Andy and Carol are two of the nicest people we have met. They make you feel at home straight away. The care and attention to keeping the hotel to a high standard certainly pays off. We have stayed in Torquay on numerous occasions in quite shabby hotels and had nearly given up until we struck gold this time. As our family live nearby and as Torquay United fans we will always stay here in future. What a gem. By the way the breakfast is wonderful too.
