Just spent a lovely weekend at the hotel for a wedding. The staff were so helpful- nothing was too much trouble. Food was great, room was lovely and we didn't want to leave. Very friendly atmosphere. Daughter loved the pools too.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Lincombe hotel with my retired parents. I do not normally write reviews, but I felt I just had to say a BIG thank you to all of the staff at the hotel. Everything was so well organised, nothing was ever too much trouble and even though the weather wasn't too great, we still all had a fun and fab time. The rooms were spotlessly clean and modern. The food was excellent, the evening entertainment was really good and truthfully I couldn't have asked for any more.
As my mum has trouble walking distances, the staff suggested that we take the 62 bus; this stops just outside the hotel and takes you to the harbour side, and if you wish to stay on it goes all the way to Cockington. From Cockington it then returns to the hotel, via a different route allowing us to have a good selection of locations to stop off at. Also as my mum and dad are retired they have bus passes, so the only cost was a day pass for myself.
We would all happily stay here again and we all look forward to another great time.

We chose this hotel on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. Unfortunately we were unable to book either a Gold or Superior room so settled for the Standard. However it was quite small and right at the top of the building up a lot of steep stairs (Room 26). It had a sea-view - over the roof tops!

That is just about all the negative things we have to say about the hotel.

The on-suite was, by comparison, massive, about 3/4 of the size of the room and very nicely finished. The bedroom itself was also tastefully finished and very clean.

Two things really make this hotel outstanding (assuming you get a decent sized room).

Firstly: the restaurant. The food is beautifully cooked and plated. The serving staff are very efficient, professional yet friendly and accomodating.

The second point encompasses the first in that all staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the reception team who not only book you in but give a complete tour of the hotel before showing you to your room.

The downside for us is that, although it's only a few minutes walk from the town, it is up quite a steep hill. As parking in the whole of the Torbay area is somewhat of a rip-off it's best to leave the car in the hotel and walk. Torquay itself struck us as past it's prime.

Overall, a brilliant place to stay if you get the right room.

Room Tip: Avoid the four standard rooms at the top of the hotel (25-28?)

Thank you for your lovely review about the hotel and especially about our food and helpful staff. I am sorry that you were unable to book a Gold or Superior room, we have limited numbers of these rooms and they do tend to book up very quickly although as we have refurbished all our bedrooms and bathroms we beleive they are all to a very high standard. Room 26 is one of the smaller standard rooms and right at the top of the building, so it does have views out and many guests chose the rooms at the top for the views, other standard rooms are larger but then do not tend to have the same views. All our rooms are very individual in size and shape so when you book next time , please call us at the hotel and will will try and organise one that matches your preferences - all the Gold Rooms are very large and have lovely views over the gardens and down to the harbour. All our Reception staff are always happy to explain as much detail about a room as possible so that you enjoy your stay to the utmost.

We have visited the Lincombe over the years and watched the refurbishments Brett and Jo have undertaken, which have now restored the Lincombe into an exceptional hotel. We have just returned from a break for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in room 34, the patio room, which was spotlessly clean, spacious and decorated to a high standard. The staff at the Lincombe are exceptional, and a credit to the hotel, the hotel may have seen changes but the warmth and friendly welcome received by Suzy and Russell, makes returning to the Lincombe a pleasure, it is like being with old friends in a relaxing atmosphere.
Also David and the dining room staff are a credit to the hotel and the breakfast/evening meals are excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. It is always a pleasure to stay at the Lincombe and we hope to return in the autumn.

Thank you for your lovely review, it is especially pleasing for us as owners to receive such great feedback about the improvements we have made to the hotel over the last two and a half years and about our staff who are so committed to making the hotel a relaxing place to stay. It is great to hear that staying at the Lincombe Hall is such a pleasure and we have tried to create a homely and friendly ambience whilst retaining the character of theis beautiful old building. We look forward to welcoming you back in the autumn.

We checked in on Wednesday leaving on Saturday mid in June 2012, booking bed breakfast with evening meal. The reception was very friendly and we felt at home straight away. We had a ground floor room with a small patio, spotlessly clean with a large comfy douple bed. There was a special offer of three course evening meal for £12 that we took advantage of - the meals were excellent value with a good range of options and of a high standard. Being Diabetic I enquired about sugar free options which presented no problem . coffee was served in the lounge where entertainment was laid on each evening between 8.30 - 10pm.I would thoroughly recommend this hotel particularly for the friendly and helpfulness of the staff. Understandably there seemd to be a high proportion of returning visitors.
