5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

Bottom Line - Book it and I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed, especially if you like 'old fashioned' service and standards and some great entertainment! We enjoyed our one night stay so much we returned at the end of the week for two more!!

A bit more detail.....

My wife and I decided to break our journey to Cornwall and this hotel was well located (both in terms of our journey and proximity to the town centre - 5 minute walk), had rooms and parking available and a good rating so we took a chance on a late availability DB&B basis in a standard room. The room, like the rest of the hotel, had been refurbished to a good standard and had all you needed for a comfy stay - not least a big comfortable bed! True the walls are a little thin and the odd floorboard squeaks, but it's no big deal when considered against the whole package.

Deciding to go DB&B turned out to be a great decision as the food was very good quality, great value for money (£15 add on) and served by some very friendly and appropriately attentive staff in a tastefully decorated dinning room with a conservatory like extension. OK it's not an extensive menu, but it changes each day and has sufficient choice for most tastes. The Wine list was adequate and certainly the wines we tried were very drinkable and well priced.

Breakfast, served in the same dinning room, was terrific with a combination of table and buffet service. Juices, Fruit, Cereals and a full English available and options on alternatives if you want to pay for them.

The bar was well stocked, had plenty of comfy seating and was reasonably priced.

Entertainment was excellent each night we stayed and a real highlight.

The staff deserve a special mention - incredibly friendly without being intrusive.

As I stated above we enjoyed our stay so much we booked in again on our way back from Cornwall and stayed two further nights. Will definitely be a regular stop for us on our trips to / from Cornwall.

NB: Although we never ventured in the water the hotel has a great (very warm) indoor and (not quite so warm) outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi.

Room Tip: We were in a Standard initially and 'traded up' to a superior on our return - both were good...

What a lovely review, where do I begin. It is so good to hear that you enjoyed 'both' stays with us, and even nicer that you plan to return in the future. I will pass on your praise to our staff, who are constantly mentioned with regard to their friendliness and professionalism and next time you visit, bring your swimming costumes, the outdoor pool is now up to a very warm temperature to match that of the indoor pool.
Kind Regards

We stayed April 14, for 4 nights with 9yr old, this our second stay at this hotel, I can't praise it enough, great food, helpful staff, clean rooms throughout. This hotel offers something for all the family. We love the heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, it's so warm you can use it on cooler days.my son loved free internet access and use of on sight computer. The cinema was also a great hit. Nightly entertainment is great for relaxing after a nice meal. Will definitely return. We stayed in a standard room which was spacious enough for the three of us.

Thank you for your lovely review. People often comment on how lovely and warm the pools are, we made a decision to keep them at a temperature that is enjoyable to swim in, whether that be the height of summer, or as in your case, when the outdoor pool first opens in April. We are so glad your son also enjoyed his stay, happy kids make for happy parents! We hope to see you all again soon.

We have just returned from spending four nights at Lincombe Hall Hotel, and have had a wonderful time. We last visited over four years ago and it was very tired. The new owners have done marvels, the whole place has been given a complete makeover. The room was lovely with huge bed, and new bathroom, tea & coffee facilities, and large TV.The dining room was elegant, light and airy and the lounges comfortable and had excellent cabaret in the evenings. The staff were the most helpful, pleasant and accomodating that I have met. Food was also excellent. We loved our stay and will be back.

We love to see the return of guests who have yet to see the improvements made over the last four and a half years. All our bathrooms have been replaced with white suites and every mattress has also been replaced. We are often commented on our food, which is all home made from scratch and ingredients locally sourced. I do hope you don't leave it too long before you visit again.

Great helpful staff, big comfortable bed, lovely warm swimming pool, they even gave us great weather and sunsets!!! The food is excellent and not really promoted on their website. I've eaten all over Europe in some great places and it's up there with some of the best. They offer a small selection that changes each day and all are excellent. The breakfasts are also great.

The hotel is old school but that is the biggest part of it's charm. Our room had everything you need.

It's also within walking distance of the sea front 5-10 minutes. It's away from the night time noise, so we all slept well. Would love to visit again.

Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that the weather was good on your visit with us. We open our outdoor pool for Easter in readiness for the lovely weather and keep it at a lovely warm temperature so that people can enjoy it even if it is a little chillier outside, however, we do also have an indoor pool and Jacuzzi if guests prefer.
Thank you also for your lovely comments regarding our food, it is all freshly prepared and sourced from local suppliers, I will pass your praise onto our Head Chef, Phil, and his team.
Also, as you mentioned, we are ideally located, only a short walk from the town, but in a quiet location.
We do hope to see you again soon.
Kind Regards

The two of us have spent a wonderful 2 night break in this truly excellent and spotless 3 Star hotel. We took the special offer on a well know website for a "basic" room and it was still huge! It included an oh so cosy queen size bed , a small two seater sofa and large TV with tea and coffee making and a large powerful shower in the immaculate ensuite. An excellent buffet breakfast was presented in the classy and tastefully decorated dining room. The smallish outdoor pool was oh so warm and the spa tub beside it was really hot and very vigorous. The 3 course dinner was superb and so fresh and real value for money at only £15 for residents and a £20 for non residents. This was followed by unlimited coffee whilst you watched the truly excellent and amusing cabaret singer in the lounge or you could watch a film on the big pull down screen in the TV lounge. There is even an ironing room for guests to press that dress or shirt !. Every one of the staff was immaculately turned out and so very accommodating. The owners were so very welcoming and rightly proud of their achievement following the massive investment they have made in the refurbishment of this elegant building and its annexe . No wonder this hotel has won so many awards. Congratulations to all.

Room Tip: The rooms is the main house have a real feel of quality about them.

Thank you for your great review. It is lovely to welcome new guest to the Lincombe Hall Hotel. We are so pleased that you loved your room. All our rooms have been refurbished to the same high standard, and we have embarked on another round of refurbishments, our aim being to ensure every room is redone every 3 to 4 years. We are glad that you enjoyed the entertainment, this can be enjoyed most nights in the lounge area and ranges from a singer, to classical guitarist or maybe a pianist playing on our baby grand piano.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we do hope you return again soon.
Kind Regards.

Spent a wonderful evening at the Lincombe Hall as non-residents with family who were staying at the hotel. Very comfortable surroundings for drinks before dinner, an excellent three course dinner in the dining room then coffee in the lounge listening to Ruby Washington, the live entertainment for the evening. Exceeded expectations and will definitely visit again.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review. It is lovely that you enjoyed your time with us so much, even having only sampled a small 'slice' of the Lincombe Hall Hotel. It is always nice to have locals come to the hotel and enjoy our food and special atmosphere.

Had another great week at Lincombe Hall. Our first night was in the annex with the rest of our stay in one of their Gold rooms in the main hotel. Staff excellent and friendly as ever. Food exceptional, with the chilli pasta dish a favorite. In a word, unfaultable. Looking forward to our next visit.

Brett and Joanne have added extra parking on what used to be the old tennis courts. It just keeps getting better!

Room Tip: Go for a Gold room, if you can. We've stayed in several and they are all fab.

Thank you for your lovely comments. The tennis court conversion to a car park was done last year, based on guest feedback, we thought it more necessary to ensure that every guest had no trouble parking whatsoever, and we also wanted to widen the spaces in the main car park, which would have reduced our capacity.
We are so pleased you loved your Gold room, all our rooms have been refurbished to the same high standards, and we have started a new room refurbishment programme, aiming to 're-do' every room on a 3 to 4 year turn around.
I will pass on your comments to our Head Chef about the chilli pasta, it is always nice to get positive feedback. He has recently changed our menu, and I have to say, it just gets better, and as always everything is home made and all ingredients are sourced from local suppliers.
I do hope you return again soon.
Kind Regards.
