Lincombe Hall Hotel
Ranked #10 of 86 Hotels in Torquay
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 21 June 2014

We have just returned from a fabulous 4 night break at Lincombe Hall, the hotel far exceeds it's 3 star rating. It's spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard. The sunny terrace & gardens are perfect for relaxing and having a drink. The temperature of the heated outdoor pool was perfect and made such a treat to have a swim after a full day enjoying all that Torquay has to offer. Great jacuzzi too. Pool towels are provided free of charge. Breakfast was very good. Free wifi throughout the hotel which enabled me to share my photos with friends and family during my stay.
We had a Gold room that was large and very comfortable with nice views over the garden/pool and even the sea in the distance. The weather was fantastic during our stay with temperatures in the mid twenties and the only downside to this was the room was extremely hot even with the window wide open. A tower fan was provided but made very little impact
on cooling the room down. This was our only negative and was very much out weighed with all the good things about the Lincombe.
The hotel is only 10 mins walk from the seafront, all downhill and although we walked back most times we did have a taxi back a couple of times which was well worth the £3.50.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we would definitely return to the Lincombe on our next trip to Torquay.
Torquay itself has lots to offer and does great ferry trips over to Brixham and Paignton just for £1. We even saw Dolphins on our return trip from Brixham so that was a real bonus. Fab weather, fab hotel, fab time.

The Lincombe is a lovely sea side hotel ideally situated for exploring Torquay and surrounding district. It is clear the hotel has had a lot of money spent on it and it provides very comfortable accommodation at a very reasonable price. It is very near the town centre and it is within easy walking distance of a number of very good trip advisor recommended restaurants.
Although the walk to the restaurants is easy the walk back is very steep and some may prefer to take a taxi for the return trip.
Staff were very helpful ( particularly reception staff who arranged an extra room heater when the temperature suddenly dropped one evening after the hotel central heating had been turned off )
If you are headed to Torquay you won't go wrong with the Lincombe.

We stayed for one night, and had booked the compact double, they upgraded us for free because they were quite quiet that night. The staff were all wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and they genuinely cared about you enjoying your stay, and it's worth making the most out of their local knowledge. They were also very good at catering for my husbands allergies and strict dietary requirements and are happy to put lactose free milk etc in the fridge for you for breakfast if you bring your own, which when you have to be careful with allergies is a godsend!
The free parking on site was a bonus, the room overlooking the garden and you could see the sea in the distance was lovely! The rooms are very comfortable, the bathroom is lovely and the soaps and moisturiser etc are luxurious. I would recommend this hotel to everyone! We didn't have time to try out the pools but I will make sure to when we return, which we will!

we stayed here for a 2 night break the care and attention by staff started before we even arrived when we had to ammend our original booking dates this was done quickly and with no fuss whatsoever, on arrival we were greeted by reception staff who asked after my daughter who was taken ill and the reason we could not go on our original date a lovely touch .we had booked a standard room but after seeing it we both agreed that there was nothing standard about it ample space tastefully decorated, and a lovely view down to torquay harbour .the room itself was also spotlessly clean with a well stocked beverage tray and little extras like a hair dryer and heated towel rail. the restaurant offered a buffet breakfast which was superb the choice was plentiful, nice hot plates and very friendly attentive staff all food was of a extremely high standard with local produce used very tasty especially the sausages the hotel is rated 3 star but we have stayed in 4 star hotels in torquay no where near lincombe hall standard cant wait to return .

This was submitted several weeks ago, but unfortunately was not published.
This was our first time at this hotel and we cannot recommend it enough.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and always dressed smartly.
Difficulty in getting our computer on-line was no obstacle and a very helpful member of staff arrived promptly at our room, unable to fix the problem Brett the owner got involved and through their internet provider things were up and running in no time.
We were a little concerned that the hotel is on a hill and although we are both nearing 70 the short steepish walk to the town was no obstacle and the fact that there was not a lift made no difference.
We stayed in room 45 a ‘Superior room’ in the hotel annex, a large airy room with a lovely view over the manicured rear gardens.
The hotel was very clean and decorated to a high standard.
The food at breakfast and dinner was of good quality, tasty, well cooked and served on hot plates.
The restaurant service was prompt and efficient with an earlier than normal sitting being 6:15, should you have a 7:30 show in Torquay planned, although needing to be out by 7:00pm to allow enough time to walk and get seated this was a little bit of a rush.
Entertainment was excellent, a film show every night or entertainment in the lounge.
A room safe would be a nice touch (no embarrassment should a guest misplace an item).
The floor was a little creaky but this is a minor negative compared with all the positives.
All in all a very well run hotel and would we stay here again: - Definitely.

Room Tip: Room 45 in the annex was large, nice and quiet with a nice view of the garden.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of the Lincombe Hall. It is always nice to hear feedback from new guests and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. You'll be pleased to know the internet is now working perfectly!
As you mentioned, yes we are on a hill, however, it is an easy work down, and if you don't want the walk back up, just a few pounds in a taxi.
You suggested that room safes would be a good idea, you'll be pleased to know that we are looking into the possibility of installing a safe in every room.
Once again, thank you for your lovely review, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
Kind Regards

Visited this hotel again for evening meal, greeted with a warm friendly manager plus escorted to the Restaurant where again greeted by the Restaurant manger and staff, all who were very friendly and knowledgeable reference the menu.
Enjoy my 3 course evening meal plus the wine and then sat in the lounge to list to the excellent soloist with a mixture of songs.
Excellent hotel and meal and credit to the staff for their warm, kind, friendly manners.
Many thanks
